Zeff

Origin

The tough, no-nonsense head chef and owner of the famous Baratie Restaurant located in East Blue, Zeff takes aspiring chefs under his guidance and allows them to work for him. He and Sanji have a long history dating back to the days when Zeff was better known as Red-Leg Zeff, a dangerous pirate who saved the young Sanji and sacrificed his own leg to do so.

Creation

One Piece Vol. 5 JPN (Oct 1998)

Zeff is a supporting character in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. He first appeared during the Baratie Arc that began in Volume 5.

His first appearance was in One Piece Volume 5 CH. 43 "Introducing Sanji", and his first anime appearance was in One Piece - Episode 20 "Famous Cook! Sanji of the Sea Restaurant!". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Kouji Yada, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation is performed by Grant James.
