Yurie Hitotsubashi

Yurie is the main protagonist in Kamichu!. In the very first episode, she tells her best friend Mitsue Shijo that she has became a goddess; how she became one is not revealed during the entire series. She is remarkably naive and simple-minded but always has the best intentions. She has a crush on Kenji Ninomiya, a clueless boy in her class, and always tries to get him to notice her. She also has a younger brother who has a crush on Miko Saegusa, Matsuri Saegusa's younger sister. In the beginning of the show Matsuri latches on to Yuri's new-found divinity with intentions to make her the new god at the Saegusa's Shinto shrine. With Matsuri as her new manager, Yurie spends her time granting wishes, curing curses, meeting aliens, and attending god conventions. All the while attending school and working-up the courage to confess to Kenji.
