Yuki Kajiura is a Japanese musical composer and producer for the soundtracks of many well known animes and video games. Her father's love of classical music and opera greatly influenced her musical style. Her music is best described as a mixture of classical orchestra and electric synthesizers.
She became part of female musical trio, known as See-Saw, in July of 1992. The band produced six albums and two hits. They temporarily separated in 1995. Yuki continued with a solo musical career and in 2001 she became involved with the anime Noir produced by the company Bee Train. The soundtrack was largely praised by critics and fans. She went on to produce the music for a number of other popular and large anime series such as .Hack//Sign, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, and Pandora Hearts.
Her solo projects, during which she usually collaborates with one or more vocalists, are called FictionJunction. Many of the songs from FictionJunction are used in anime series. She is also responsible for creating the widely popular female musical group Kalafina. The group has performed a number of openings and endings for anime, most recently Kuroshitsuji and Sora wo no Oto. Two of the members (Keiko and Wakana) previously worked with Yuki on FictionJunction.
