Yukari Tanizaki

Yukari is the easygoing and lazy English teacher of Chiyo's circle of friends. While fluent enough in English, Yukari barely has any motivation at most times to teach her class and acts more like one of the students in her class than the teacher. Because of her close interactions with the students, they refer to Yukari by first name. A friend of Nyamo's, their friendship is quite dysfunctional as Yukari regularly gets jealous of the student popularity and expensive items that Nyamo receives. In addition, Yukari is prone to teasing her friend and expecting her to cover the bill for alcohol, especially as Yukari is a heavy drinker.

Yukari's driving is notorious among her students, especially when they went on trips to Chiyo's summer house. Her driving is so wreckless, that it scarred the psyches of Chiyo and Kaorin. It even caused Sakaki to lose her normally cool and indifferent composure. The only student who shows great enjoyment for Yukari's destructive driving is Tomo.
