Yuji Sakai

He's actually an ordinary high school boy. In his way back to home, suddenly the world "froze" (everyone stop moving) and two monsters appeared, devouring the people surrounding. The monster realized that he can move, so it decided to "eat" him also, and a girl wearing a black suit and holding a katana came, saving Yuji from the monster, and also telling him the "truth" of this world.

Character Evolution

Personality

Yuji is a kind person who puts others before himself. This often makes Shana confuse and annoyed, because he cares about others to much, forbids Shana to use them to rebuilt the damage after battle. He always determined to protect Misaki City and everyone he carwes for all cost, even his own life. He's at first only see Shana as a flame haze but later he see Shana as "Shana" too, even begins to like her. Despite that, he seems to be clueless about the feelings Shana and Yoshida Kazumi harbors for him.

Background

Yuji's past life is something which he describes as ordinary until his fateful encounter with Shana. His mother, Chigusa, is a regular housewife while his father Kantaro works overseas. He actually has an older brother who died at birth, thus his parents named him Yuji, which means "Second (child) who shall live long ".

Relationship

• He likes Shana. He wants to change her fate (flame haze) and merging with the "Snake of the Festival" in order to achieve that.
• Kazumi likes him, even after she knows that Yuji's already dead. She often makes him bento.
• He's good friend with Ike. He's quite close to Satou and Eita in the novel.
• He's train by Shana, Margery, and Wilhelmina.

The Reiji Maigo

Inside of him, there's a treasure tool called Reiji Maigo, which allows him to continue exist in this world. He doesn't need to be worry to disappear. Reiji Maigo is able to replenish it's keeper Existence up to maximum at twelve o' clock at night as long as there's Power of Existence inside the keeper's body.

Reiji Maigo is created by the "Eternal Link" Pheles and Johann. The first purpose of the Reiji Maigo creation is to give the Mystes Johann eternity, so that he and Pheles can live together forever. Unfortunately, Sabrac encounter and defeated them, forcing Pheles to seal Johann inside of Reiji Maigo and send it to random location. Sabrac had seen an opportunity to insert it a spell, which makes the silver appear.

Inside Reiji Maigo

Locked inside the Treasure Tool are two entities. One is "Eternal Lover" Johan, while the other is an entity referred to as "the Silver", a being whose existence dates back to the time when Margery Daw was still a human being. "The Silver" was placed inside Reiji Maigo when pieces of Taimei Shihen were forced inside by Sabrac when he attacked Pheles and Johan.

Bal Masque seeks Reiji Maigo because it is one of the necessary Treasure Tool to bring back their god, the "Snake of the Festival", a Lord with the black flame and silver shadow who is one of the true gods of the Crimson World, and is the founder/true leader of the Bal Masque.

The "Snake of the Festival" is later reborn and merged with Yuji, whom he honored by telling his subordinates to refer to him as "Sairei no Hebi"/Silver the Second, Yuji Sakai unlike other Lords who used mythological names of angels, gods or demons. When Yuji first activates the Fuzetsu on his own, the presence of the silver flames indicates an omen to The Snake of the Festival's return into the world.
