In a hobby shop 3 kids each buy a booster pack of Duelling Monster Cards, And find out that non of them have any rare cards.

As they leave a boy named Shougo walks in and they tease him for not ever having won a duel.

The old lady who runs the store has an conversation with him and he tells her that he wants to be a top rate duellist. He buys a booster and finds out that he just drew the legendary Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
