Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (b.1962) was one of the collective of SF fans who formed the legendary Gainax company.Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Sadamoto sold his first manga work while still at university. His debut as a professional designer came in 1987 with the multiple award-winning Wings of Honneamise. He subsequently worked on many Gainax productions, including Gunbuster and Neon Genesis Evangelion, for which he also drew the best-selling manga adaptation, which achieved best-seller status before the series even aired, and is regarded as an alternate but valid continuity. As an artist, his work includes the cover of the Eric Clapton album Pilgrim.
