Commodore Yarisugi is an officer in the Marine's G-5 Unit under Vice-Admiral Smoker and Vice-Admiral Vergo.
Yarisugi is an overzealous member of the Marines who is stationed on the New World with the rest of the G-5 members. Vice-Admiral Vergo was the commander in charge, and the G-5 looked up to him. After the Paramount War, Vice-Admiral Smoker was put in charge with his subordinate Captain Tashigi.
Yarisugi is a supporting character in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. He would later appear in the Punk Hazard Island Arc that began in Volume 66.
His first appearance was in One Piece Volume 6? CH. 673 "Vergo and Joker", and his first anime appearance was in One Piece - Episode 599 "Shocking! The True Identity of the Mystery Man Vergo!". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Kōtarō Nakamura, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to be announced.
Yarisugi's name translates in Japanese as やり過ぎ (yarisugi), which means "overkill" or to "over do (something)". This is reflected on how he overreacts to nearly all confrontation.
Yarisugi lost his patience with with the outcry of parents who were inquiring about their missing children, and he told them that Vice-Admiral Vergo had already looked into it. He had determined that their children had died at sea.
Soon afterward, Jimbei, the former member of the Seven Warlords, handed the pirate Wet-Haired Caribou over to them. Yarisugi and the G-5 were ready to execute him, but he was saved by his brother, Blood-Splatterer Coribou. However, Caribou betrayed his brother and left him behind on the island as he escaped.
