We get to the house and walk in. I hold Trunks' hand.

"Okay,Trunks go to your room. I'll tell your mom, okay?" He smiles and kisses me. He goes and I walk into the kitchen.

"Hi Bulma!" I say.

"Oh! Hello Gohan!" She says. "Where's Trunks?"

"In his room." I say. " Listen, Uh, Bulma. I have something to talk about..."

"Sure. What is it?" She says.

"Do you know about Trunks' love life?" I ask.

"Um...No." She says frowning.

"Well, today he told me he is gay."I say. She gasps.

"I am too. As you know..." I say. She nods.

"Um... I was wondering if Trunks and I could ,like, go out?" I say. " I know there is a bit of an age difference... But we love each other."

"Um... I'll have to ask Trunks too, Gohan." She says, not really knowing what to say.

"Trunks!" She yells to Trunks. He comes in right away, blushing like mad.

"I see your falling in love, buddy. With Gohan?" Bulma asks her son in a stern voice. He blushes and backs into me, lieing his head on my chest. I cautiously wrap my arms around him, rubbing his chest. His breathing starts to quicken. I smile. Bulma frowns but doesn't say anything.

"Yes, mom." He says quietly.

ARE YOU READY VICERS!? I certainly am! Keep the brain bleach close by boys, and fujoshi are going to get a kick outta this. This Weird or What is as suggested by Takashichea. Today we're going to cover Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi. You're going to need a bit of background information for this one, so lets get to it. SiH is set in the same 'universe' as another yaoi and anime called Junjou Romantica. That'll explain why there might be some JR references. Junjou is about a writer ( Usami) and a student ( Misaki) who fall in love, and the writer secretly start writing smut about their own sexual relationship. Their relationship start off with... sexual harassment. So does Ritsu and Takano's.
Yes. This is as cute as it looks.
Yes. This is as cute as it looks.
Anyways, now that you know a little back story here, you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in this yaoi review! Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi starts off with the back story of our hommie Ritsu Onodera. He's our resident uke. Basically once upon a time he goes to school, and falls in love with his sempai. He confesses to his sempai, then there's some implied sex. Sorry, you don't really get to see anything. Then, a few years later, Ritsu is hired as... get ready... a shojo manga editor. Of course there's a little wtf moment, and he meets the rest of the editing team, which happens to be entirely male. There he meets Masamune Takano, his high school (or university.. it's not clear) sweetheart.

NOT UNLESS YOUR GAY.... Too soon...?
NOT UNLESS YOUR GAY.... Too soon...?

Obviously you haven't read your yaoi, have you?
Obviously you haven't read your yaoi, have you?

Well, I must say that the plot is pretty similar to Junjou Romantica, but I have a confession to make. I hate JR. Mainly because Usami and the other couples pissed me off. Even though SiH has a fairly similar set up with the obvious uke/seme (bottom/top) thing going on, I like the idea that we're avoiding rape. It's nice to have a yaoi where the spark that lights the fire isn't rape. You'd be surprised how common a theme that is. I thought it was quite funny how Ritsu's previous job was working with Usami from Junjou. I laughed a little too loud during his flashback. But it's nice to see that the creators have a sense of humour.

 Overall this is just adorable
 Overall this is just adorable

SiH was actually pretty tame, yaoi wise. The only thing you really get yaoi wise is some flashback kissing, and a rather hilarious sexual harassment kiss. Yes. Sexual harassment. It's work... right? I mean, what ever pays the bills, and makes that shojo manga epicly romantic. Basically, for the first episode, I'm going to call it shounen-ai, not really yaoi because yaoi=sex. I loved the way that the creators played off of the yaoi and shojo stereotypes. It's quite ironic when Ritsu's commenting on why "everything is all sparkly" during a kiss scene in the shojo manga. The creators seemed to have a lot of fun. What was also pretty funny was the whole 'cycle' with the editors. It's like their own little menstrual cycle... except with shojo manga and less blood. Overall the humour was quite clever and despite Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi's primary demographic, I think everyone will have at least something to enjoy. I just really appreciated the fun tone of this anime, and the little quips, references, and forth-wall poking.

The animation was good. Usually yaoi and shounen-ai anime have awful animation budgets and everything is just... uck... *cough*TogainuNoChi*cough* but the animation was pretty smooth. I still have a bone to pick (heh) with the art style in SiH. It's the same as Junjou Romantica, and I really wasn't a fan of it. THE PROPORTIONS. But at least the humour and the story makes up for the disproportionate lips.

Oh... and on an unrelated note: Katsuyuki Konishi voices Takano. If that name means nothing to you, he's the same guy that voices Kamina in Gurren Lagann, Laxus Dreyar in Fairy Tail, Demon Eyes Kyo, and Ash's Snorlax in Pokemon. Never gunna look at them the same way... are you? I was also really happy to know he was Kiriwar in Togainu No Chi. <3

I actually recommend everyone to give the first episode a try. It's quite cute, and quite funny. No sex, and overall tame for a yaoi. I can't vouch for later episodes, though. Anyways, give it a watch, and let me know what you think below. :D

EDIT:
Takashichea did a summary here. Read it if you're a bit scared to watch the anime. :P

A lot of people seem to be uncommon with the terminology and lingo of yaoi fangirls. That is why I will make this mini vocab list so you know what you're getting into before you find yourself in something..... interesting. Let's go!!
  • Yaoi - Encompasses every kind of male/male relationship, although generally leans towards the more sexual side of the scale.
  • BL - AKA Boy's Love. A term used for manga/anime/fanfiction with male/male sexual relationships.
  • Shonen-Ai - AKA Boy's Love (also), although this term is used to refer to non-sexual male/male romantic relationships.
  • Fandom - Commonly used all over the anime world. Fandom just means everything to do with the fans. AKA Fanbase
  • Pairing - Simply a couple.
  • Cannon - Official to the series.
  • Ship - 'to ship' is a verb which means to support a certain pairing of characters.
  • Crack Couple/Crack Pairing - A pairing that is shipped, but will never officially happen because it it either A) Near impossible B) A cross over couple or C) Just a bad idea.
  • 'X' - Often between two character names, there may be an 'X' this means that they are referring to the two characters mentioned as a couple. I.e. SasukeXSakura. Note: the 'X' may be replaced with a '/'
  • Slash - A fan-fiction of any sort that pairs two male or two female characters.
  • Doujinshi - A fan-fiction, but in the form of a published mini-manga or comic. Commonly found in the yaoi fandom.
  • Lemon - A fan-fiction depicting explicit sexual relations between two fictional characters.
  • Bara - Anime/manga with extreme sexual acts between big, hairy, and burly men. Intended for gay male readers.
<I'll add more when I remember some stuff. If you want me to define a term, lemmie know in the comment section!!>

Well, actually I love 18+ anime and manga. But here in Canada we have lots of rules for manga. Basically anything rated 18+ whether due to violence, nudity, or explicit sexual content is 'wrapped in plastic'. The term 'wrapped in plastic' means exactly how it sounds. The book is wrapped up in plastic so little kids don't open it up and read what's inside. Also, this allows store clerks to easily tell if the manga is suitable for the buyer to read. If you look 18+ you're good to go, but otherwise you can't get the manga. This pisses me off. I get it when the manga is yaoi, yuri or hentai because that falls under Canada's pornography laws. But I can go see an 18A movie all by myself, but not purchase a work of art. Furthermore, they don't really read the manga that they're wrapping in plastic, so they have no idea how inappropriate it actually is. I was in the book store and I noticed titles such as Akira, Ghost in The Shell, and a few serious hentai manga were not wrapped in plastic. But titles such as DOGS, Black Lagoon, Deadpool (comic book) and Code Geass were.

Why the hell is Code Geass wrapped up when Akira isn't? It's actually really frustrating. They just assume that the majority of manga is 18+ by the cover, or rating on the back. As well, the fact that it's restricted is really annoying. I may not act like it online, but I am very mature. I'm not going to read DOGS and suddenly decide: "Hay! Let's f*ck sh*t up!" and start shooting people with my gun. There are people my age (16) and younger that actually can handle 18+ material.

June Manga Pre-Order/Demand For Publication Web-A-Thons! Fans-now YOU can make a book see print earlier than scheduled!

Gardena, CA (June 11, 2009)- Digital Manga Publishing, one of the industry's most innovative and unique companies, is pleased to announce a special program for yaoi fans who have been waiting patiently for titles to see print an opportunity to make it happen themselves! Junémanga.com is finally offering awaiting yaoi fans an opportunity to acquire selected anticipated yaoi titles, months in advance, through Juné's new Pre-Order/Demand for Publication Web-A-Thon program. This is for those long-yearned titles eager fans have been waiting for, which have yet to see publication anytime soon from Juné's immediate release schedule.

Through this program, we are offering a limited selection of Demand for Publication titles in which you can choose and pre-order a title, (originally set far into Juné's future normal release schedule, or was held back in publication), for early limited print publication (even several months earlier if fan demand is high). Each title offered will have its own minimum dollar amount goal to reach for its print publication. Once that dollar amount goal is reached, the book will be printed and copies will be sent off to those who have participated in this program immediately. This could mean acquiring a title several months in advance before its scheduled street date. All sales will be through PayPal, using a credit card or your PayPal account, meaning your purchase is secure and verified. Shipping is available domestically and internationally, so this program is for all yaoi fans all over the world!

You can monitor the progress of a title's Demand for Publication through the status bar posted on the website. As more Pre-Orders are placed for a title, the status bar will increase, coming one step closer to its dollar amount goal for print publication.

If the dollar amount goal is not reached by the particular deadline date we set, the book will continue back on its normal path of its original scheduled Juné release date. Pre-Orders placed will still get their books early before the street date, but only a couple weeks earlier before it actually hits store shelves.

For those of you who just can't wait for Juné's long scheduled release of your favorite awaited title or artist, this is an opportunity for you to be among the select few to get the publication several months in advance. Be one of the few on your block to get the book early!!! Don't wait—Pre-Order/Demand for Publication NOW!!!

Visit: www.junemanga.com/webathon for more information and to see the very first book up for demand...the novel "All You Need Is Love, Vol. 1"!
