Yachiyo is a waitress at the Wagnaria restaurant in the Working!! franchise. She is very cheerful and outgoing. She carries a katana with her at all times, which some people find intimidating, because her family makes all types of blades and she has done so since elementary school. She has a fixation on the manager, Kyouko Shirafuji , and gets upset when other people attend to her food needs. This fixation started back when Yachiyo was elementary school student and Kyouko, then a high school student, beat up some kids who were picking on her for carrying a katana everywhere that she went.

Yachiyo is a character in both Wagnaria!! series, Working!!/Wagnaria!! and Working'!!/Wagnaria!! 2, published by Aniplex with animation production by A-1 Pictures and the 4-panel manga series Working!!, which is published by Square-Enix and serialized in Young Gangan magazine. Her original design is credited to manga writer and illustrator Karino Takatsu while her anime version is credited to Shingo Adachi. Yachiyo makes her first anime appearance in episode #1 of the original anime series.
