#Wiki Editors News

#Wiki Editors is a anime/manga concept
| |

Note: This blog will be expanded fully when I have time off from school. I wanted to thank everyone for their support over the years. I wouldn't have done it without them.

Today, June 20, 2014, I have finally reach 1 million wiki points. I barely noticed it while working on one of the Chaika - The Coffin Princess episode wiki pages. I was watching the activity feed like always during forum moderation. When I got into Anime Vice during October of 2010, it was my little sister who had found this site. When we were watching Fairy Tail together, I was searching the web for some fun images of Fairy Tail. My little sis found some pics from this strange website. I didn't pay much attention until I saw the Fairy Tail wiki pages that were done by Obsidian609 and Obscurefan. I started joining the community out of the curiosity for the wiki.

First Time

You remember your first time wiki editing. My first edit was to Nova's page, but Foxx rejected it because I only edited the deck summary and didn't leave a note of what I did. Years later, I found out the true problem when I became wiki mod, is that the deck summaries in the wiki page are invisible during moderation. You have to compare the wiki page in a different tab during the wiki queue. I did explain to Foxx, and he approved my submission later on. The wiki queue and lots of parts of the site needs a lot of revamping. It's a constant reminder when we work in this community.

First Wiki Team

My first team was Fairy Tail, and I was proud to be a Fairy Tail wiki editor part of the biggest wiki editing teams in the history of Anime Vice. Ethan Lance started the big Wiki Task Theme: Fairy Tail while Foxx created wiki tasks later on. Annabanana, Wales, Buhssuht, and I were clearing wiki tasks within a day. It was a hectic but competitive atmosphere. I felt so connected to the community. After the gold rush, it was just Annabanana, Daniel Newton, and myself taking care of the Fairy Tail wiki pages.

I wrote the Fairy Tail Recognition Blogs for Animevice users to commemorate our work.

First Solo Wiki Project

I was glad to be part of many teams in Anime Vice, working together in the wiki pages. I had my share of solo projects where I took on everything. Shaman King was my biggest solo wiki project. I wrote mostly volume and episode summaries on top of doing a few character pages. With the help of past editors who done some of the pages, I finished the rest of manga volumes in Oct 2011 (Shaman King Manga Wiki Project is Finished). It was the most intense wiki project I had done by myself. I think I finished 43 episodes for the anime series. I never did went back to finish the anime portion.

Thanks

I have a huge list of people to thank. It would take more than 5 pages or so. If you remember from my My First Anime Vice Anniversary blog, I had a huge list which I put out on this blog.

2011's Thanks

Staff

  • Ethan - for being a big supporter for my teams, being there to solve some disputes between my colleagues, and being there to motivate us.
  • PerryVandell - for helping with the beginner guide submissions and highlighting the Weekly Articles for Beelzebub, Blue Exorcist, and Sket Dance
  • GPBMike - for helping me with the glitches

Community Members

  • Annabanana - She was my first partner on Anime Vice, and she is my best friend who keeps wiki editing with me on insane projects. We share a strong bond as we go beyond wiki editing. We're both college students who have the same passion in most animes.
  • Auron570 - He's my Gosick partner along with HalberdierV2.
  • BigHeart711 - He has warm heart and looks everything in a posttive way. He's has every whiskey media account.
  • Buhssuht - A great bounty hunter who helped out in the Fairy Tail week.
  • EgantheVile1 - He's was the one who put me on the right of wiki editing. Back then, I didn't even follow the wiki style guide for the episodes and volumes.
  • Fire_Star - He's was my partner on Rave Master. He is an outstanding man who helps out people in the forums and now, a mod.
  • FoxxFireArt - My mentor and the man who I asked about wiki style guides, problems with anime and manga issues, and the best wiki editor out there. I wish I can get my verb tense right when talking about him. I was always nervous around him, but I grew attached to him.
  • HalberdierV2 - For being patient with me because I promised to help him on Gosick after I finished Rave Master. We worked on Gosick with our partner, Auron570. He is working on Sket Dance as well.
  • Jbog - He supported me on the guides and got me working beyond my comfort zone.
  • KuroNekoXIII - I love how he's active on the Sket Dance forums and connect with me beyond anime. He is my teammate in the W.I.K.I. Nation team for Sket Dance.
  • Mohsinman99 - For being active on the Sket Dance forum. He got me into Gintama.
  • Obsidian609 - When I couldn't find good images, he will suggest good places to hunt. In addition, he always jumps in and helps my team in Fairy Tail and Blue Exorcist.
  • Obscurefan - The first user I met that interacted with me. A kind man that started on Fairy Tail by himself, and as we progress, we work together. He is the one who got me into wiki editing.
  • Newten - He helped me on images, Fairy Tail, and how to use the wiki editing features on Anime Vice. He's a great and funny guy.

  • Superevil225 - She got me working on wiki pages that I'm uncomfortable with and I worked on more on my sister's beloved franchises as well.
  • Wales - A great guy who is very supportive and knowledgeable about Anna and our projects. He help me make good reviews and guides on how to get images. He's compassionate about
  • ZombiePie - He is a big help to me in Giant Bomb. His sarcasm and witty comments made my day when I'm stressed out. He helps to give input about the things I have done such as the spam blog rules.

I really put a lot of pride in working with people. We wiki editors are the forerunners of the site. We create wiki pages, so people can use them for news, blogs, reviews, etc. We're the arrow because we hit glitches first in the community because we deal with glitches every day.

I will thank the following people who made a huge difference in my years of working in Anime Vice. Don't worry if I didn't include you. I love everyone in the community. I know so much folks not just wiki editing but across different communities in Anime Vice.

Annabanana
Annabanana
Annabanana was my first partner in Anime Vice's wiki community and one of my best friends. We work on Fairy Tail wiki project for a long time. I still work on the project to keep the story of our work along with our teammates alive. It was Fairy Tail that revolutionized the wiki editing we know. Anna was one of the best wiki editors I know in the community. I can't thank her enough. She got me into many different anime series when we were wiki editing. She made wiki editing fun.
Acura Max
Acura Max
Acura Max was a wiki mod from Screened, and he's from Pennsylvania. He and I were wiki editors on Screened, Anime Vice, and To Hollywood and Beyond Wikia. Acura is a dedicated guy who knows both of our communities intimately. He and I worked on episode summaries for Star Trek, Korra, Valvrave, Robotics;Notes, and Walking Dead. He and BigHeart711 always helped out the anime seasonal guides. I would help Acura with the Screened TV trailer guide, too. He was the one who got me into the mech genre of anime and also into Star Trek and Walking Dead TV shows. I was a TV noob. I didn't watch a lot of TV shows. Acura wouldn't stop recommend TV shows to me. I always appreciate Acura for being there when things got tough.

Acura Max reached 100,000 wiki points on October 11, 2013 back in Screened. I was proud of him.
FinalDasaHe was the manager of Screened. I admired his tenacity in promoting Screened. In the face of not having funding or help from Bermanbraun (now known as Whalerock Industries), he kept working with his group. People respected and admired FinalDasa for never giving up. He would write an article a day except holidays. That man deserves vacation and time off for what he has done. He always supported and loved his community even other Whiskey Media communities. I was glad to help Acura and him with the Screened wiki projects and Top Movies and TV Shows of 2013.
KuronekoXIII
KuronekoXIII
One of my close friends from Canada. He and I first met in the Sket Dance weekly reviews. He loved the reviews and joined our Sket Dance wiki team. Later, he and I worked on Guilty Crown and finished the episode summaries together.
Tom Pinchuk
Tom Pinchuk
Tom Pinchuk is the current manager of Anime Vice, creator of Hybrid Bastards, and screenwriter of Max Steel. Without him, we wouldn't have Anime Vice. I thank him for believing in our users. When I met him back in Los Angeles (AX 2013), it was surreal meeting someone you only know of in the internet. Being thank by Tom personally made my day. Looking at Foxx, Daniel, and other users, I didn't believe I made much difference in my online community in comparison. I was just a normal wiki editor. I told him it was folks who worked with me, particularly Daniel. I spoke so much about Daniel Newton instead of myself with Tom. Tom told me not to put myself down. He told me that Daniel thought highly of me. If it wasn't for us two encouraging others to start up community projects, Anime Vice wouldn't have much user content. Like Ethan Lance, Tom told me to keep thinking of ideas and told me to stay in touch if I get any ideas.

I promise him I'll keep working hard for Anime Vice. Months later, I started off the Cultural interviews project that made a huge difference by showing Anime Vice is one of the best international online anime community. Its history is forever etched in the An Entire World of Anime Fans! -- THE VICE PIT video. It was such an honor. I thank Tom for giving me this opportunity.
Daniel Newton
Daniel Newton
He's one of my best friends who is one of the biggest and influential person in this community. He's a writer at Bago Games. Not only he came up with dozens of non wiki community projects and games, he revolutionized the wiki community. His roots were in Fairy Tail where he bump into me and Anna. Took us under his wing and promoted our work. Suggested things to improve the wiki for Fairy Tail which was passed out to different wiki projects. Fairy Tail was his wiki experiment. We were carrying out experiments in coding, something new that a lot of wiki editors haven't much experience with.

He and Foxx would clash in their views over the wiki a lot, but that shows how much respect I seen between him and Foxx. Daniel will always take the initiative and do something crazy and innovated just to help the community.

I admired Daniel a lot for thinking outside of the box. I would ask him, Foxx, and sickVisionz wiki questions when I was a young user and then, a wiki mod. He did warned me not to go into the battle forums, knowing the type of person I am. Leave it to Sonata. I couldn't abandon Sonata even it did hurt me emotionally.
Foxx is one of the best wiki editors, currently number one in our community. He had helped out me and my team countless times. He's a passionate artist who fought for Anime Vice's recognition in front of the Whiskey Media sites, Comic Vine and Giant Bomb in particular. I wasn't brave as Foxx. I was too passive compared to him. I let people step over me while Foxx wouldn't let anyone get to him. He isn't afraid to speak his mind. Foxx made a lot of impact on our community especially the wiki. He made us feel proud of our work in the community spotlight. I admit we're not close. He's like an older, tsundere brother to me. Well, I know that sounds funny. He does that to me a lot. I know it.
Ethan Lance
Ethan Lance
Ethan Lance was the engineer who help created Anime Vice. Not many young users today after the Whiskey Media sale out knew his legacy and his contributions. While Tom Pinchuk wasn't wiki oriented, Ethan was pro community and was aggressive in the wiki aspects of the community. He personally thank me for being Gung Ho and making wiki teams when he saw our Fairy Tail team.

It's a shame we lose Ethan Lance back in 2012. Having a strong staff presence makes people especially my teammates feel safe and acknowledged in their work. He and Tom always stress to me to promote user content, be community driven. I had carried their words while following in their footsteps.
PikaHyper
PikaHyper
PikaHyper is a wiki mod from Comic Vine. He's the best wiki elite because in 2012, he got up to 200,000 wiki points in Anime Vice under 2 months just by adding manga volumes. He stops because he was needed to lead Comic Vine's wiki editing frontier. I would visit Comic Vine to help promote manga releases and add Japanese manga releases from Anime Vice's incoming seasonal trailer guides. I would ask him for advice concerning the wiki for both Comic Vine and Anime Vice.

He's true friend. He would welcome Anime Vice's wiki editors should AV suffers the same fate as Screened.
Wales
Wales
Wales was a cool guy from Georgia. He was an active wiki editor who talked to me about college a lot. We were close friends. He would help me and Anna on the Fairy Tail wiki pages. I help him on the Legend of Korra pages. I took over with Acura Max's help on Screened and then Anime Vice. Wales was very influential on me. He didn't want me to work in Anime Vice too much. He warned me that the site wouldn't last forever and to take it easy with the wiki. He knows I'm really attached to this site and its wiki pages. He was right. Years later, we had Whiskey Media sale out. He knew Whiskey Media had some fall outs when he noticed AV wasn't getting enough attention from staff compared to other sites. He was talking about financial reports on the company and pointed out to telltale signs.
Taichokage
Taichokage
Taichokage is a veteran user over at the battle forums and one of the top Toriko and Magi wiki editors. His work on the character pages is amazing. I first met him in December 2013 when I was writing a quick Best Battle User of the Month. Turns out I didn't know the guy. Everyone in the battle forums know the guy and respected him a lot. I didn't have enough time to interview Taichokage like I did for future Best Battle User of the Month threads. I just combed through his profile.

He always supportive of the community. He's well rounded and dedicated. After reaching 10,000 forum posts, he's working on his goal to reach 100,000 wiki points.
ZombiePieI used to wiki edit in Giant Bomb. ZombiePie always spotlighted the Fire Emblem pages from the Fire Emblem wiki team. He would visit Anime Vice and put up playful banters with the community members. He loves all of the Whiskey Media sites. Like PikaHyper, I would visit Giant Bomb to comment on the community spotlight and chat with ZB a bit. I would ask ZombiePie about stuff in Anime Vice and Giant in regards to wiki.

Hello everyone, this is a schedule update. In addition to serve as a temp mod in the battle forums to assist Sonata and Dream and moderate the forums, I moderate wiki. Depending on the submission, it can take up to an hour for me to review wiki submissions because to root out plagiarism, fix formatting style according to the Anime Vice Wiki Style Guide, and enforcing the image policy (Wiki Main Image Rule).

Please bear with me. Even though we have 4 wiki mods, I'm the only active one here. I wish we had a rotation of wiki mods by certain days, but my teammates, the mods, are busy with obligations outside of the site.

I will try to moderate wiki every day during the evening.

I have summer school classes from May 27-July 3th. I still have to complete a checklist from My Current Wiki Projects and Goals for Spring 2014 blog. I have four main episode summary projects:

Then, I have character projects for Toriko and Magi.

Thank you everyone. I'll try to support the community and assist new and veteran wiki editors. I was chosen as a wiki mod, but I wasn't meant to moderate the forums especially the battle forums.

Please let me know if you have questions. I'll direct you to the right person if it deals with battle threads, RPGs, or specific wiki pages I'm not knowledgeable in.

This is the last update on my end. I didn't include Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders in my Current Wiki Projects and Goals for Spring 2014 because I wasn't sure if I love the anime series. I only work on wiki projects of shows I love. I have met folks who don't love a show, but they just work on the wiki page. I started wiki tasks before I got into the anime series just to take advantage of the momentum of the Jojo craze in the battle forums and the front page due to Tom Pinchuk actively reviewing the show. I'm thankful for having the chance to work Anime Vice folks on wiki projects and promoting it to everyone.

I thank for getting me in the show. I'll do my best to support the wiki and promote Jojo across the community's various niches.

Thank you everyone. Please support the wiki by commenting on the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Discussion or helping out in the wiki.

I have been meaning to create a guide and a hub thread for new wiki editors because I get PMs from new wiki editors from time to time. This is more effective way of answering questions rather than talking person to person each time.

Note: I'm at school, and I still have papers to write. I'll complete this project soon. Right now, I'm laying down the links as foundation. I'll flesh out an article at the end of the day.

Staff's Resources

  • Animevice FAQ - wiki, forums, mods - Created by Ethan
  • Site FAQ - Created by the former Whiskey Media staff
  • Wiki Main Image Rule - Created by Ethan - It's outdated due to the current policies that wiki mods enforce. There is a current gridlock between old and new wiki mods. There will be a new image policy soon.
  • New Rules: No Hentai Images - Created by Ethan to prohibit images with explicit sexual content. However, I did had a misunderstanding at first until Daniel cleared it up for me. We do allowed nudity on the site if it doesn't have sexual content (IE: sexual intercourse). It's up the mod's call to moderate said images. Nudity is only allowed in the episode pages but not the character pages, forums, and anywhere else.

Hello everyone, this is just a personal log I do, so I can track of what I have done and what team projects I'm involved with. I will post a community's wiki progress for the quadmester of all the current projects that everyone in the site is working on. I have kept tabs on my teammates, solo editors, and new wiki editors. Partly because I do the Wiki Editor archives (see the most recent one: Wiki Editors Project Archive 2013) This is will be brief since I have a lot of things to do. The purpose is to manage my time. I'm bad at time management because I have school, mod roles in Anime Vice, and Admin roles in the Animanga Wikia sites. Don't want to take up too much on my plate.

Individual Wiki Projects

After sampling the new spring 2014 shows (see Spring 2014 Anime Guidevmy teammates and I have done), I pick these two shows. These shows' wiki pages don't conflict with the New Spring 2014 Wiki Task Projects.

Chaika - The Coffin Princess
Started in April 10, 2014:
I'm pretty going to write the episode summaries due to being my specialty.
2. Fairy Tail
Started way back in December 2010 or so.
For the first time ever, I think I'll be alone on this project. This project had a huge team of wiki editors in 2010-2011. Then, it came down to Annabanana, Daniel, and me working in 2012. 2013 - it was Daniel and me. Now, Daniel is busy as the editor for Bago Games. I appreciate everyone's hard work in the past. Wales, Obscure Fan, Buhssuht, and Annabanana were the top wiki editors in those days. Fairy Tail wiki pages had the most love in the community. It's only rivaled by Toriko whose wiki projects rocked all niches in the Anime Vice community.

It's cool. I'll be doing the same thing, writing episode summaries.

Team Projects

I'm lucky to have teammates on these wiki projects. Due to a recent talk with Kuma, there is some implications that having a team means having a leader. I don't really agree with that view point much to Kuma's respect. I'm pretty much a community oriented person. We all work together on different things and contribute for the community.

Here is my progress report.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
Finished all of the 2nd season's episode summaries on April 3.
Bigz007 uploaded screenshots while I worked on the episode summaries. We didn't have time to work on the character pages. Taichokage and WayBig express interest in the character pages and request some bounty tasks. I put out bounty tasks for Sinbad and Hakuryuu.
Toriko
Started out in Fall 2013 with Yusuke52 and I creating the Toriko pages. We were lucky to have Taichokage, WayBig, Othus12, SpeedForceSpider, ForgottenOne joining the project in January 2014. See Toriko Recognition Blog.

Unlike past team projects I worked with, this project heavily emphasizes character pages. Taichokage and Yusuke52 completed a majority of the character wiki pages. ForgottenOne focus on concept pages. Othus12 and SpeedForceSpider did their first character pages while WayBig was on a good start with 2 character pages. For me, I'm currently working on 3 character pages and did a few episode pages. Bigz007 added story arcs boxes and characters to all episode pages.

The wiki bounty tasks along with the battle themes help boost the awareness of the project. Lots of character pages were completed. It's thanks to the Toriko wiki gang. We celebrated our success with the TORIKO Roundtable.
The Seven Deadly Sins
Started out in Fall 2013 with DestinyHeroKnight, Bigz007, Low, SMXLR8, ForgottenOne, and Taichokage. It's a small project since my teammates DestinyHeroKnight and Bigz007 were mostly foundation editor types. Low and SMXLR8 were young wiki editors with little experiences. I couldn't do much since I didn't have time to read the series. Taichokage and ForgottenOne did a fine job on the wiki pages. They were the ones who benefit from the bounty tasks.

Katmic, a non wiki editor, is a pillar of support. He helps promote the series by writing chapter reviews on it. We also have a The Seven Deadly Sins Discussion (Manga), too.
Kill la Kill
Started out in October 3, 2014: This project had the most mods on it. Daniel was the episode formatter, Foxx was working on character pages, notably Ryuko and Satsuki, Bigz007 helped with uploading images, Dekken helped with profile portraits, KingofAsh worked on concept and object pages, and I focused on the episode summaries.

I finished all of the episode summaries on March 31, 2014. Right now, my teammates are busy. Hopefully, we will work on the characters. That would be it. This project is almost to completion excluding the manga series.

Welcome to the Spring 2014 season, everyone! I'm Taka, one of the wiki mods in the community. My teammates and I work together to promote the spring 2014 shows through trailers and discussion threads. We completed the Spring 2014 Anime Guide, and it's on the front page. One way to promote the series is through the wiki pages. I welcome all new wiki editors and old. Check out the Anime Vice Wiki Style Guide if you're unfamiliar with our policies on how to format pages.

Recognitions

I was rushing this blog.

To make this more user friendly, the top wiki editors who clear a lot of wiki tasks are

  1. - He's a veteran battle user who did some wiki editing. Due to only having a phone, he hitting the library a lot. He started in the wiki business with Toriko in January 2014.
  2. - She's a veteran wiki editor who started fun projects like the Christmas 2012 Profile Contest!! and the Valentine's Profile Contest 2013!. The Aleasha's twice a month AnimeVice Movie Chat! has been a lot of fun. You can chat with folks in our community while watching movies (anime or non anime) and anime series.
  3. - One of our newest wiki editors who started out on Toriko and Medaka Box. He's a silent warrior on the wiki pages.

I have examples and an outline to follow for the Spring 2014 New Anime Series Wiki Task project.

Here's an example from Attack on Titan.

    Overview

Attack on Titan is an anime adaptation of the manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The anime series is directed by Tetsuro Araki and produced by Wit Studio, a subsidiary of Production I.G. Music for the series is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano and the characters are designed by Kyoji Asano.

    Licensing

For audiences outside of Japan, both Crunchyroll and FUNimation are legally streaming the anime series. On both sites the latest episode is made available for subscribers one week before being made available to all viewers. Crunchyroll's simulcasts airs every Sunday at 12PM starting on April 14, 2013.

    Plot

Attack on Titan is about humanity's struggle against the Titans; giant humanoid creatures that devour humans. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

The year is 1987 and 17-year-old Jotaro Kujo finds himself suddenly plagued by a ghost-like entity. Jotaro’s grandfather Joseph Joestar, a veteran of a fight to save humanity fifty years prior, arrives with his own supernatural aura and explains that this power, known as a “Stand,” physically manifests its user’s spirit and can be controlled by its user at will. The sudden emergence of these Stands is revealed to be caused by the revival of the megalomaniacal vampire DIO (the Joestar’s longtime enemy) whose awakening from his century-long slumber has triggered Stands to awaken down the Joestar family line, including in Jotaro’s mother whose uncontrollable Stand will ultimately kill her in a few weeks’ time. Jotaro, Joseph, and their allies have fifty days to locate DIO (using their Stands to thwart DIO’s network of devoted Stand-user minions along the way) and eliminate DIO himself in order to save Jotaro’s mother and prevent DIO’s ambitions of world domination.

Toriko Recognition Project - All winners get a Chopper trophy!

Welcome everyone to the Toriko Recognition Blog! Yusuke52 was the one who started the project back in fall 2013. I wanted to help out, but it was a big task because there were not much pages. In fact, the only character page in the Toriko wiki database at the time was just Toriko. He and I started promoting the project and doing an outreach in the community. A lot has change when our gang grew in January. (See AV's Newest Wiki Projects Updates: Toriko and Seven Deadly Sins) It was awesome seeing folks from different niches joining our team. I would love to give out recognition to our community members who contributed to Toriko whether through wiki, blogs, and promotion in the battle threads.

Stay tuned, my teammates and I will do a Roundtable discussion on Toriko. It will posted on the front news thanks to our staff, Tom Pinchuk.

Toriko Wiki Gang

Here are my teammates who I'm proud to introduce. Please read their statements on how they got into Toriko and what they love about it.

I have a hard time uploading images for my teammates since AV is lagging since last week's four day lag. I listed their top five wiki pages in the Toriko project. For an exhaustive list of their wiki contributions, you can check out the Toriko wiki list where I record what they did as well as the creation dates for the Toriko wiki pages.

Yusuke52

Yusuke52 is a big video game fan. He loves Animal Crossing. (I didn't get his full list) He's a pro at writing up characters, franchise, and concept pages. He's a creative wiki editors. For his Capture Level page, he created an exhaustive list of all the Gourmet Beasts. It was an outstanding job he finished.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko (franchise page)
  2. Ichiryuu
  3. Capture Level
  4. Joa
  5. Chin Chinchin

His Take on Toriko:

I got my first look at Toriko back when I was debating in the battle forum. Just before I stopped debating there, Toriko was gaining some ground and recognition, and after a reading a few recommendations from people like Othus12, I went and read a few chapters and found that I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I didn’t really get into it for about a year but that was due to other personal aspects of my life causing me to lose my drive for anime and manga, which caused me to drop a few series, Toriko being one of them. The person who really got me back into it was a friend of mine who also happened to be a big fan of the series, something I only realised when I saw him buy a few volumes at a local bookstore. He gave me 2 volumes to start off with, and that was around my birthday last year. I took it from there and starting reading on and discussing the different arcs and characters with him.

The reason I like it would have to be that it’s very unique. I really like the way Mitsutoshi uses suggestions mailed in from the readers to create many of the animals and ingredients, something which adds great variety to the world, variety that I don't think many writters could achieve using their own ideas. The history, lore, details, and of course the characters have enough depth and substance to keep me invested in the series without losing interest too quickly. But I think the best thing about it is that it does an amazing job of keeping itself fresh and never ends up running stale like many series I have read. In my opinion, its story arcs don’t overstay their welcome, ending at the right moment before a new arc is introduced and it begins by changing up the location to something completely different and unique and adding in new and crazy animals and ingredients. Since I personally only keep up to date with a select few manga, some of which are now ending, it was a welcome addition.

Taichokage

A battle veteran in our community, Taichokage was a beast in the wiki pages. He's a character specialist, and boy, his memory is so sharp that he doesn't need to refer back to the source material. He can whip character pages in a day. While he hangs out in our community, he likes making lists of groups in Shonen and folks with guns.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Zebra
  2. Midora
  3. Sunny
  4. Starjun
  5. Gowther

His Take on Toriko:

I took a real liking to Toriko after the later events in the Century Soup arc, around the 60 chapter mark. The intensity of the final bout was something I rarely have seen in Shounen. Mitsutoshi will put in old school levels of violence that you tend to only see in Seinen these days rather than Shounen. My favorite aspect of Toriko would have to be the characters. I've always thought that great characters can make up for average or sub par plot, but even the plot while not very complex is not lacking with Toriko. I like ALL of the main characters which is rare for me and they're all so different from one another. The art style is fairly unique. It bears somewhat of a resemblance to DBZ art but the art for the characters is very different.

I first looked at Toriko back in 2011 when it only had about 118 chapters and months before the anime began. I took interest in it but events in my life temporarily took me away from anime/manga. It was my longest hiatus from anime/manga since I got into it back in 2006. When I came back to anime/manga, I had almost forgotten about Toriko until early 2013 when my buddy othus12 was promoting it like no other. SpeedforceSpider, another friend was also highly complimentary of it as were a few others. I decided to make it my next manga to read once I had caught up to Magi. By the time I caught up just over a year ago, it had become one of my 2 favorite Shounen, the other being Magi. Needless to say, reading those 2 back to back was probably the most fun I've had with manga to date.

ForgottenOne

He was one of the new wiki editors I met back in fall 2013. Having moderated his wiki, I can tell he was a dedicated person. Besides Toriko, he loves Medaka Box and contributes on the wiki project. On the Toriko wiki pages, he specializes in concept pages as well as character pages. He is a very organized editor on our team.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Full Course Menu
  2. Four Heavenly Kings
  3. Tengu Brunch
  4. Grinpatch
  5. Cooking Festival (Toriko)

His Take on Toriko:

I decided to try Toriko after my friend showed me a picture from a battle thread about the Mountain Turtle surviving bombardment from the army. I also heard high praise of Toriko by some people from different forums, this one too but it was mainly from othus at that point. The main thing I like about Toriko are those moments of shock such as Jirou's grand knocking and Midora's Hungry Space. The brutal fights also helps keep me attached to this series.

Bigz007

He was one of the most dedicated wiki editors specializing in uploading anime screenshots especially for Title Card and Eyecatch. He is an old teammate of mine because we work on so many wiki projects together. Being a big fan of Shonen series, he loves all sorts of genre. His motto is to never drop a show. In the community, he likes making lists to keep track of characters with common fashion or abilities like ridiculous number of swords and eyepatches.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko Episode Pages - He did a entire marathon on the series. He attached characters to the pages. Along with Yusuke52, he helps create new character pages. He also added story arc boxes to every episode. That's quite an accomplishment there.

His Take on Toriko:

Toriko was on my want to watch list for a long time and I was always kinda pushing it down because I want to watch so many things and my time is limited. Ever since AnimeVice crew launched Toriko project, I was more and more interested in this anime, and I also wanted to help them out with some wiki work.

The thing I didn't like at first is that the main crew start of very strong and I thought it would be hard to make those characters develop the right way because of that, but after some time I realized I was wrong and that there is really a lot of space for those characters to develop in every single aspect.

For me Toriko is really on the borderline between DBZ and One Piece, and that is not only because there are crossover episodes with those two franchises. It's like a combo of One Piece world and DBZ crazy overpowered characters.

WayBig1010101

Being a veteran in the battle forum like Taichokage, he contributed to our project. He is a big fan of MMA and wants to play the piano. In addition to his love of Toriko, he loves Fullmetal Alchemist, Clannad, and Future Diary. Check out his lists to find out more! Even though he was busy, he worked and made a great page for Setsuno. Besides his wiki contributions, he promotes the Toriko and other underrated franchises when he was the Battlation Of February 2014.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Jirou
  2. Setsuno

His Take on Toriko:

Well I was first introduce to Toriko here on Anime Vice. A certain user by the name of Othus12 caught my attention when he started to debate about Toriko in the battle forms. Othus12's debates over toriko were so interesting that it became one of the main topics here on the vice and I continue to read the debates. Eventually I joined the Toriko debates and the more and more I debated, the more and more my knowledge of Toriko increased. In the end what really got me to try Toriko was not so much how powerful the series was, but just how much passion debaters such as othus12 were in their Toriko debates, which after leaning so much about the series decided to give it a chance.

At first Toriko was really hard to get into for me personally because I really did not think that a story with a premise that was centered around food in a shonen was going to be that good and the first couple of episodes my initial opinion was so far not changed. Besides the main character, Toriko, every other character at first felt either mediocre or generic and Komatsu, who is the main character sidekick, was so annoying for me that along with my other feelings for the series almost made me give up Toriko. What kept me in Toriko was the introduction of the other heavenly kings and the plot of the story. The new characters and the plot got me much more invested into the series and after a while of getting use to the bizarre concepts and the development of the core characters, I was able to finally experience the hype that surrounded Toriko, which only got better when I changed from anime to manga. What keeps me invested in Toriko ironically is the very first things that I did not enjoy about the story, which was the characters and the story, along with the insane fights, powerups, and creatively makes Toriko as of today one of my most enjoyable series to follow.

SpeedForceSpider

He is also one of the experienced folks in Anime Vice's battle forums. He is a big fan of Shonen and ecchi shows. Check out his Anime Babes list which shows he loves big boobs! He helped out with the wiki project. As Battlation Of January 2014, he promoted Toriko as well.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Zebra

His Take on Toriko:

Well I became interested in Toriko largely due to my interest in GAR type characters. Toriko reminds me of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Fist of the North Star with a theme of food instead so that was a main factor in it. At first I was a bit iffy on it until the other King's started appearing, the villains were introduced, and the plot thickened. The thing I like the most about it however, is the fact that the entire cast is unique and they all have creative and interesting powers. Toriko is the type of series that seems like it will be a typical shonen on the surface until you give it a chance. I also find it cool the cast is full of mature adults instead of goofy teenagers who get beat up by female characters in a gag like scenario. Much better than the HST in every way, shape, or form to be honest.

Othus12

A friend of SpeedForceSpider, WayBig1010101, and Taichokage, he's is one the active users in the battle forums with a wealth of experience. He's a big fan of comics and manga particularly Shonen. His two biggest favorite Shonen series are Toriko and One Piece. Like his friends, he help promoted Toriko in the battle forums (Battlation Of March 2014)

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko

His Take on Toriko:

At some point, I ran out of manga to read, and I was looking for something that would keep me entertained. I found Toriko, and ever since the first chapter, I found it awesome! What I like about Toriko the most is the locations and the ingredients. They seem very creative IMO. I also love the characters and the wild battles!

Takashichea

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Tina
  2. Komatsu
  3. A few Toriko episodes - I may not be able to add plot summaries to every episode. I'll do as much as I can.

His Take on Toriko:

I got into Toriko because it was a popular franchise in the battle forums. Before I explore the battle forums as a new mod back in the fall, I was asked by Yusuke52 to help out with the Toriko project. When I first published the Crunchyroll streams Toriko news blog, I was talking with Screenivas. We both said Toriko wasn't that popular in the site. Ironically, I never knew it was popular in the battle forums at that time. Yusuke52 saw our conversations and pointed out that there wasn't much Toriko wiki pages or anyone working. He asked for my help. I tried it out to see if I liked it. Sure enough, I like the series not too strongly like I love Fairy Tail and One Piece. It was good anime series with lovable characters. My favorite character so far is Coco. It was a strange Shonen series that's all about food. The beginning scenes by the narrator reminds of Willy Wonka at some points. It was a unique show with a dude in distress. Most Shonen shows have damsel in distress, and pretty much the supporting characters can fend for themselves. Komatsu is one strange character. He's an integral part of the series, and he's weak but gentle minded. His role remind me of Manta from Shaman King.

Honorable Mentions

Sorry, I rushed the blog. I meant to give out recognition to folks who contributed in the battle and discussion threads for Toriko.

Anime Vice and Screened Timeline

Welcome to the Anime Vice and Screened's Timeline project. Because of Screened's closure on March 14, 2014, I was concerned about Screened and Anime Vice. I realized our time is short. As a former historian in a college club, I carried that influence into Anime Vice by documenting mainly wiki work when I first started in Anime Vice. Here I am, doing this to preserve our two community's hard work and struggle.

I welcome all help because this is a community's time line, anything significant (Wiki, Battle, RPG, Reviews, and Staff) should be here.

Thank you everyone.

Both Matt and Alex now work at Giant Bomb with their Gamespot buddies of old. They all have strong ties with Gamespot of one sort or another. Some might say that Gamespot before November 2007 was its "golden age" in terms of popularity and video content. Although I personally think Gamespot are getting better again with personalities such as Danny O'Dwyer and Jess McDonnell. But they'll never recapture their golden era.

It has been a fun couple of years, and I’d like to thank everyone who’s visited, commented, or sent in podcast questions, and especially those of you who took the time to edit the wiki. I appreciate all the support for our crazy little venture. The notion that what we’ve done here has been worth you taking some time out of your day to come by for a visit means a lot to me. A big thanks go out, as well, to our freelancers, who helped create some amazing content that I was proud to publish. Also, all of our mods deserve a big round of applause, but especially ScanCase and Finaldasa for helping out with the Community Showcases over the past months. And of course I'd be remiss if I didn't shoutout Alex, who invited me along on this crazy ride almost two years ago. Lastly, Joey Fameli deserves a ton of credit for making me look much more capable of hosting a video than I actually am.
I greatly appreciate all the well-wishes that you guys have sent my way recently; it's been very touching to hear how Screened has been a part of your life over the last couple of years.

In the Who Will Be the Next Wiki Editor with 100,000 Points? thread, Daniel Newton and Wales raced to the 100,000 wiki finish line. The race took a whole day as these 2 kept editing wikis. Meanwhile, Taka and KuroNeko who were doing the Guilty Crown Round Table commented on the Wiki Race on Twitter. Daniel beat Wales in the race. It was a very close race. The two were only 500-1,000 wiki points apart.

Because of the toll on writing weekly reviews that KuroNeko and Taka had done, Taka decided to implement a few anime discussion threads on the new anime season. He got the inspiration from MyAnimeList's discussion threads. The pros of having discussion threads were that it required less time to make rather than making weekly anime reviews. The cons were that the site didn't have enough people since most of the activity was in forum games or battle forums.

Unfortunately circumstances do happen that are beyond my control, and life does move on. Sadly, I will no longer be writing for Anime Vice. However, this will not be the end of my writing career, I will be on the blog scene again.
Till then, see you Space Cowboy.

This is what I love: movies and television. And movies on television. And television on movies, oh wait.
This is what I also do: photography and producing. I produced a music video for my brother-in-law's band last year, and I am working on various other projects, including a short film. This is all in my "free" time or lack thereof, so don't worry, you get my attention during the day. I just don't sleep. That is fun.
This is who are great: Screened Pups. I thank you all for your support during this transition and it has been a true pleasure to get to write and post for you.
This is who I am obsessed with: Benedict Cumberbatch. Mostly, from Sherlock, but really from anything. ANYTHING! He's delicious. Here you see a picture of us together. Cute, right?

Now…enough about me, lets talk about Screened. When discussing what is special about Screened, we know that it is the community and all of the hard work all of you do. For that reason, your fearless moderator, will now be your community manager and the one posting articles on the front page. He already has helped me immensely with writing features, so it will be an easy transition. However, he does cry easily, so go easy on him. (Alright, I made that up, but still...be nice.) He will also likely be getting help from other community members, so keep up the good work and maybe that will be you.
In the end, the good news is, this means that you all know that Screened will be left in good hands and it will be around. I will also make myself available to FinalD to give him guidance and answer any questions he has.
It has been an incredible year and I thank you and will miss you all. Very much.

Your Community, Your Way
FinalDasa becomes the manager of Screened.
With my taking over I wanted to first introduce myself to those who may not know me all to well. I'm FinalDasa, or Michael if you wish, and probably like you am a fan of movies and TV. Some of my favorite movies include Star Wars,National Treasure, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and right now I'm keeping up with shows like The Walking Dead,Community, and soon to be watching Game of Thrones. I've been on Screened for years and a user of all the former family of Whiskey Media websites.
As what will happened with Screened, you hopefully won't experience any more turbulence with your normal everyday visit. I'll start right away with the normal articles you're used to seeing like What to Watch, Netflix Instant Update, About Last Night, Community Showcases, and so on. Give me some time while I hammer out details and get used to the shiny new buttons I have to navigate around in order to keep the lights on and the website running.
So what should you do? Keep using Screened, keep commenting, keep posting in the forum, keep editing the wiki, keep writing reviews, and keep being the super awesome amazing community you have been ever since I signed up.
I'd love suggestions about new features, what you'd like to see, what you don't want to see, and anything else you would like to say about Screened's content. It's now more community focused than ever and getting users like you more involved and interacting with what happens on Screened in priority number one

Taka posts the List of Banned Characters in the Battle Threads when the battle forums were flooded with multiversal and omnipotent characters. Due to his inexperience in moderating the battle threads, Taka asks the battle community to help. Dream contributed and helped Taka with the project. Eventually, order was restored in the battle forums.
January 25After being inspired by Jokergeist (Comic Vine)'s Battle Phone Project, SMXLR8 copy his idea and implement as his community project in the battle forums. CherryBomb's Last Fashion Blog
CherryBomb is one of Screened's best users known for her reviews, wiki, and her fashion blogs. She has a passion for fashion, and she publishes her take on Oscars and Emmies.

CherryBomb: I have had a heavy heart ever since Screened gave the announcement that it was closing down. Like a catchy Dido song, I'm yelling out "I will go down with this ship, I won't put my hands up and surrender" and so I'm bringing to you my final "Cherry's Choice" fashion blog post, and what better way to end it than with the 86th Academy Awards?

2013 was a glorious year for cinema but was this reflected in the 2014 fashion of our glitzy, glamorous stars? Let's see:

4 Years A Critic: Screened & I
On March 12, 2014, Callum Petch says goodbye to Screened by fondly reflecting on the site that gave him so much. He shares how he found the site and how much it changed him. Callum thanks everyone for their contributions for making Screened the best TV and Movie online community.

Callum: I honestly have no idea how to wrap this up. I held off a week before writing this, because I wanted to fully process the news before I set about putting words to electronic paper. Maybe I thought that would make me more prepared. Like I had something profound and insightful to close out my time on this site with. But I’ve got nothing. My mind is blank. In just about 48 hours, this site will shut down and there is nothing I can do about it.

...

My heart hurts. Thanks for everything, everyone. It really has been a blast and, despite the last 5 A4 pages, words genuinely can’t describe it. So, thank you. I love you all.
