After the surgery, Kiritsugu feels the pain of his crest, and Natalia states that Kiritsugu's origin lies in severing and binding. She reveals that she will gind some of ribs into the bullets and explains how his origin will manifest in these bullets. These bullets can cause more damage if a mage has more circuits turn on. Elsewhere in time, a man runs, and Kiritsugu keeps Natalia informed as they cornered the man. Kiritsugu finds the man and kills him. Flashbacks of Shirley and his father still haunts him. Young Kiritsugu practices putting a gun together, and the older Kiritsugu narrates about Natalia who makes a living in killing heretic mages. During those days, Kiritsugu continues to train himself, and a montage of all the killings he did is reveal. In one of those montage, he remembers a young boy and man fled and got gunned down. Natalia tells him that surviving is what she puts priority on, and Kiritsugu states that he wants to save as much people as he can. Later, Natalia receives a FAX bounty on Odd Vorak who specializes in bees that turn people into ghouls. Kiritsugu asks Natalia to let him smoke one cigarette.

In their plan, Natalia follows Odd Vorak while he boards a plane, and she instructs Kiritsugu to kill Odd Vorak's friend in New York. Natalia keeps in contact with Kiritsugu, and she sits behind Odd Vorak and as she bides her time, she kills Odd Vorak with a spell. At the same time, Kiritsugu snipes and kills the man. When Natalia thinks this is too easy while burning the bees, Kiritsugu drives towards the airport in an ambulance. It turns out that the bees have come out of Odd Vorak's body. Natalia finds out that the ghouls have entered the cockpit. She has to arm herself to take control of the airplane. Kiritsugu grits his teeth and waits for Natalia to contact him. She tells Kiritsugu that she is alive and that she is able to control the plane while Kiritsugu pilots a boat. Natalia states that the whole crew and passengers are now ghouls, and she worries that she cannot land the plane properly. Also, she wonders how she can take care of the ghouls. Meanwhile, Natalia speaks with Kiritsugu about how she saw too much skill in Kiritsugu. She explains that it takes years for an assassin to disconnect them from their emotions and notes that Kiritsugu had done it from the start. Kiritsugu states that he first thought Natalia as a cold person. Natalia states she feels guilty that she has not taught him anything else besides killing things. Kiritsugu asks if Natalia considers herself as his father, and Natalia scolds him and makes him call her, mother. Kiritsugu states that he is happy to have her like a mother. As Kiritsugu prepares his bazooka, Natalia states that she would retire because playing mother has made her soft. When Kiritsugu asks her what she will do, Natalia replies that she would act like his mother. Kiritsugu aims at the airplane and tells her that she is his real family before firing the missile.

With Natalia's dead, he speaks to himself and tells Shirley that Natalia's sacrifice has saved them. He breaks down into tears and curses himself.
