Welcome to the NHK

Welcome to the NHK is a series which revolves around the life of Tatsuhiro Satou, a college-dropout-turned-hikikimori who attempts to rid himself of his secluded ways and reenter society once more. Along the way, he becomes close to two other characters: Misaki Nakahara, the girl who helps him to abandon his ways, and Kaoru Yamazaki, an old friend from high school who turns out to be a very hardcore otaku. Although the story is primarily told from Tatsuhiro's perspective, the plot itself deals with the emotional and mental development of all three characters in great detail. Originally released as novel, it was later adapted into a manga and anime series. All three versions have roughly the same overarching plot, but differ from each other in a number of minor details played out through their own rendition of the story.
