Dig Deeper into Cowboy Bebop

An occasionally melancholy space western, Cowboy Bebop combines action, farce, and philosophy to create one of anime's greatest hits.

@Tom_Pinchuk:  Nice review Tom, but I wish you guys would have used this music for the review :)
I did a bad by watching this before this before getting to the movie first XD

I should be picking it up soon though ^^

I don't think Tom's hair has ever been the same one video after another, you so crazy Tom.
I haven't quite processed the ending yet.

I mentioned it in the W&L for the final episode.

The cultural mixture continues on with Samurai Champloo (hence the Champloo) though I interpret a lot of that series as reflection that Japanese culture really wasn't as isolated from the west as the Japanese might like to believe.

lol You really couldn't have picked a better ending for your run of Cowboy Bebop.  Well played sir.

Couldn't agree more about the "pop culture polpori".  Even the characters themselves had very different feels to them, from Jet's noir / Private Investigator type episodes to...well I don't think there's a good way to describe Ed (Slapstick insanity maybe?).

Been loving the Watch and Learn segments.  Keep it up!

@endaround:
Champloo has such an amazing soundtrack.  Why did Nujabes have to die earlier this year?!  NOT FAIR.

Good vid and I'm glad you liked it.  I thought the shot bottle on the keyboard was a nice touch and the musical rendition + plus fireball at the end were cool, although I've got a soft spot for randomness and bizarro comedy.

i sooooooo agree with you on puzzlement over why it had to come to such a super conclusion with no real possibility of continuation.  I wasn't all that impressed by the overarching story introduced and always thought it was a shame that they allowed my least favorite part of the show to ruin any chance of more of the good stuff.

Haha, brilliant. Also, massive spoiler warning for anyone who's planning on watching the series.

Amazing ending.

Awesome review Tom. I remember watching that movie a couple years back and saying the same thing, "this show should've went longer than it did." But then I realized that's the beauty of a lot of anime shows, they're finite and you tend to appreciate the story more, whereas many shows in the states may go on for what seems a lifetime and lose their magic along the way.

Also Samurai Champloo, as others have stated has a very similar vibe to this show. It's all about the journey, not the destination.

Hmm...just who was that cheesy synthesizer playing dude?    Ha!   That was funny.
zaldaron Nov. 19, 2010 at 5:43 p.m.
Wow...just wow....you captured what I didn't like about the anime with the ending being as crazy quick and pointless (and I still say lazy) in your review as it was in the show but yet yours was ten times more hilarious.  Well played...I laughed and then laughed some more..

note, the writer of the anime kills off main characters at the ends of his arcs lol.   (ok ok ok it's a joke samurai champlooo fanbois relax.)

Oh god Tom! I can't take you seriously looking like that... I had to scroll down so I could just listen to your review! lol!

As for the review I have never watched Cowboy Bebop, but I really think I should. My problem with it is that just like One Piece, Evangelion, Naruto and FullMetal Alchemist the anime's scope and following is so big, it becomes hard to be able to have a gradual grasp of the anime. Which is why I am grateful for movies like Evangelion 1.11 since they concise a story so big into a story that I can follow.

The ending of this video... um o_O
