En route to Earth, Shiro Amada's transport witnesses a duel between a Federation GM and a modified Zeon Zaku. Shiro attempts to save the injured GM by distracting the Zaku using a Ball; the resulting battle forces both Shiro and the Zaku pilot to abandoned their suits, and they drift off to a nearby wreck.
Shiro realizes that the other pilot is, in fact, a woman and assists her with her wound in the wreckage. The two work together to find a makeshift signal flare to alert any near by forces that may be looking to rescue them.
