A proud warrior of the Pillar Men tribe. Servant of Kars and Esidisi.
Wamuu is a warrior from the ancient superhuman Pillar Men tribe. They were worshipped by ancient humans as gods, or feared as demons. But as powerful as they were, they had one weakness, Sunlight. Kars, a genius from said tribe, decided to create an apparatus that would unlock the true potential of a Pillar Man and eliminate this weakness, the Stone Mask.
The Stone Mask unlocked only a part of his potential, longevity, making his body require more energy for sustenance. This made him consume all life around him rapidly, disturbing the natural balance. Fearing that his existence might lead to extreme negative effects on the world, the tribe decided to dispose of him. Kars slaughtered them all in response.
Accompanied by Esidisi and taking with them the then-infants Wamuu and Santana, Kars begins the search for a way to fully unlock the power of Pillar Men and conquer sunlight. After an unspecified period of time, they discover that a gemstone called the “Red Stone of Aja” could remove their weakness, and that it is in the possession of the Roman Empire, so they set out for Rome. Knowing this the Hamon clan tried to stop them from obtaining it, but because of a prophecy that dictates that the destruction of the stone would make defeating the Pillar Men even more difficult, all they could do was hide it, rather than breaking it. Nearly the entirety of the clan were massacred by the Pillar Men, but Kars and his group couldn't claim the stone.
The events that lead to the Pillar Men's slumber in the wall in Rome are unknown.
Wamuu was created by Hirohiko Araki, the author and illustrator of the series, as one of the main antagonists of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's second arc, Battle Tendency. His name is a reference to the British 1980's pop duo "Wham!”.
Wamuu is a tall, herculean man, with short light green hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. He also has a long horn which he keeps concealed inside an opening slightly above his forehead, and a tattoo of an incomplete square on the upper-half of his face.
His usual attire consists of a loincloth, a necklace, a circlet with wires hanging down from it, large hoop earrings, multiple gold bangles, shin guards, a vest, and sandals.
Wamuu is a man with a pure warrior spirit, he does not back down from any challenge and respects and honours strong brave opponents. Even though he’s the servant of Kars and Esidisi he does not share their ruthlessness, and he also always punishes himself, or allows himself to be punished, whenever he feels ashamed.
Also, for some reason, he can tell if his shadow has been stepped on, and attacks whomever steps on it, regardless of who they are, involuntarily.
Awakening in Rome 1938, Wamuu finds German soldiers studying him and his masters, he then absorbs them all and awakens Kars and Esidisi. He is then confronted by Joseph and Caesar, but defeats them easily. Joseph then attempts to lure Wamuu away from Caesar and Speedwagon by acting as if he is running away like a coward, eventually luring him into a mine cart which sends them both away. Wamuu, seeing through his trick, forcefully stops the mine cart, sending both him and Joseph who was already heavily injured from his fight with Wamuu flying to the outside. Wamuu prepares to kill the weakened Joseph, who then proposes a challenge, that within one month he will be strong enough to defeat him; Wamuu accepts, and inserts a ring containing a deadly poison that cannot be removed and dissolves within 33 days which only he has the antidote for around one of Joseph’s arteries, insuring that he does not back away from their fight. Wamuu sets out to help his masters find the Red Stone of Aja.
28 days later, after Esidisi died at the hands of Joseph, Wamuu is confronted by Caesar who has become much stronger, in an abandoned mansion in Saint Moritz. In the midst of their intense fight, Caesar surrounds Wamuu with bubble lenses, focusing the light entering the room from the outside, damaging him. Caesar, recklessly jumps in Wamuu’s direction to deliver a finishing blow, but this act blocks the light, which gives Wamuu an opening to counter with a deadly attack called “Divine Sandstorm”, devastating Caesar and destroying the lenses. Caesar, summoning his last bit of strength, steals the antidote from Wamuu and stores it along with his bandana in a Hamon bubble made from his own blood for Joseph, he is then crushed by a huge falling slab of rock from the ceiling and dies. Wamuu, in an honorific gesture, decides to not burst the bubble and goes back to his master.
Wamuu and Kars are then met by Joseph and Lisa Lisa, and agree to set up a final confrontation in the Skeleton Heel Stone Circle in Piz Bernina, and the winner will have the Red Stone of Aja. The first fight would be Wamuu versus Joseph in ancient-style chariot duel. After a long, intense fight, just when a blinded Wamuu whose arms are severely injured thought he had cornered Joseph, a Hamon infused iron ball Joseph shot at the curved edge of the arena comes flying at Wamuu from behind, bursting through his chest, heavily damaging him and losing his arms. Wamuu then launches his severed arms at Joseph and immobilises him, and absorbs high amounts of air to generate a razor-wind attack. Joseph, seeing this, sets up a counter-attack which involved an oil bottle and Caesar’s bandana lit on fire, blowing Wamuu’s body up, reducing him to a head. Wamuu tells Joseph to kill him, but Joseph gives him some of his blood as to honour him in his final moments. The vampires nearby attack Joseph in rage, but Wamuu protects him. After he told Joseph to drink the antidote before he dies, and that he has no regrets and is glad to have fought him, Wamuu fades away, and Joseph salutes him in respect.
Aside from being a highly-skilled battle genius, he also has many abilities up his sleeve.
Pillar Men abilities: Extremely enhanced strength, speed, intelligence, senses, and durability. The ability to release digestive acid from the skin. Bodily manipulation.
Wind Mode: The ability to manipulate the air around him and sprout tubes from his sides that absorbs air. He can use this ability to generate gusts of wind, become invisible, shoot tornadoes, generate a very powerful razor-like blade of wind (called “Atmospheric Rift”), and create a crushing vacuum between his arms and launch a very powerful wind vortex (called “Divine Sandstorm”).
