When great art meets a gripping mystery Reviewed by Konanda on Dec. 31, 2009. Konanda has written 7 reviews. His/her last review was for Record of a Fallen Vampire 7. 1 out of 1 users recommend his reviews.

After the low point that is volume 4 Kyo really steps it up in volume 5, which is almost entirely consisting of Bridget revealing to Morishima and the dhampires she’s travelling with more details about Stella, Adelheid and her relation to Strauss and what happened the day the Corrosive Moon (Adelheid) lost control and ending on the subsequent attempt to seal her. Providing a great amount of insight into why the Kingdom of the Night fell as Bridget knows it.

This is where the real story starts to come together as the pieces of the mystery drop into place, the main plot is still advanced but the majority of this volume is about what happen 1000 years ago.

Yuri’s art and Kyo’s dialogue do an excellent job at greatly complementing the other and you can really tell they had fun doing this volume.

Without getting into any big spoilers I will note that The Record of a Fallen Vampire might be a slow burn as it starts off but it is definitely worth reading to get to this point.
