Were it starts to get good Reviewed by Konanda on Dec. 31, 2009. Konanda has written 7 reviews. His/her last review was for Record of a Fallen Vampire 7. 1 out of 1 users recommend his reviews.

Volume 3 starts off with a flashback to a time before the Kingdom of Nights fall where Strauss and his adopted daughter Bridget are sharing a very intimate as they discuss the cause of war.

Flashbacks have been used in the previous two volumes somewhat to give small details to some of the more minor characters, however this is where Kyo begins to heavily use flashbacks from the characters who remember what happened 1000 years ago to cause the Kingdom of Night to crumble. The really interesting part of this storytelling style though is how different characters have different views on the same events and the real truth is revealed as past beliefs are shattered leaving the reader constantly surprised at the new knowledge brought forth with another take on the same thing.

The main story plot here is revealed though at the same time and well this is the point where it jumps the shark. It’s clearly evident the only reason it exists is to bring together the three characters (Bridget, Strauss and Adelheid) that are still alive from the time the Kingdom of Night fell to reveal what happened.

The ride just keeps getting wilder and like the previous two volumes Yuri illustrations are magnificent and put to good use in the over the top battles and duels that still manage to occur despite the move from more grandiose fights without much context to a more character driven mystery manga with a take it or leave it main plot designed to reveal what occurred 1000 years ago.
