Nana Komatsu packs up for Tokyo.On the train, she meets Nana Osaki, and they share a conversation. After a long train ride, Nana Komatsu is reunited with her boyfriend, Shouji Endou.
After receiving an email from Shouji, announcing he made it into art school, Nana Komatsu decides to leave for Tokyo. Shouji is shocked, but he decides to wait at the station to pick her up.On the train,Nana sees only one empty seat next to Nana Osaki.The train screeches to a halt before Nana Komatsu can ask if the other seat is taken, and she falls intoNana Osaki.
Once seated,Nana Komatsu strikes up a conversation with Nana Osaki. Before long, Shouji calls Nana Komatsu.Nana Osaki overhears her greeting and realizes that they share the same name.After the phone call, Nana Osaki asks if that was her boyfriend from Tokyo, and Nana Komatsu is quite happy to launch into a long talk about him.
Nana Komatsu spots a trolley with beer and orders some, hoping for a toast to Shouji's success, but Nana Osaki says she has nothing to do with that.Nana Osaki proposes to toast, instead, for two woman moving to Tokyo, of the same age... and also with the same name.
As the snow delays the train, the women share a long discussion dominated by Nana Komatsu. When they finally arrive, Nana Komatsu sees Shouji and runs to him.Nana Osaki turns the other way. Nana Komatsu is sad when she realizes they lost track of each other, but she's thrilled to see her best friend, Junko, and Kyosuke have also come to meet her at the station.
Nana is surprised that Kyosuke and Junko leave her at Shouji's place, but Shouji informs her that Junko and Kyosuke have moved in together. Nana begins to hope that she and Shouji will end up that way, as well. She puts a great effort into cooking and cleaning while Shouji's at work, but when he gets home, he barely notices.
Shouji wants Nana to become independent and live alone. After a conversation with Junko, Nana realizes she's nervous being around Shouji after so much time apart. She decides she must look for an apartment to save her relationship with him. Luckily, the real estate agent finds her an old apartment that Nana thinks she can afford.
The two Nana's meet again in room 707 and end up deciding renting it together. The day after Kyosuke reveals to Junko that Shouji is thinking of marring Nana. When Nana tells Shouji that she is renting room 707 with a stranger he asks her to move in with him for good but Nana is persistant about being independent like Shouji told her to be. Nana Komatsu is helped by her friends with moving to room 707, when they knock on the door Yasu opens. Initially confused they later learn that Yasu is one of Nana Osaki's close friends. Nana and Nana now live together.
The two Nana's go shopping for furniture and utensils for their apartment, in a 100 yen store they buy two identical strawberry glasses also is Nana Komatsu appointed the nick name "Hashi" by Nana Komatsu. In another shop named "Sabrine" the two buy furniture and Nana Komatsu is proposed a temporairy job by the shop owner Mizukochi which she accepts. Shouji calls up Nana for diner at Jackson's Hole that evening. In a CD shop Osaki buy's Trapnest's latest CD and gets a poster with it of the Band. That evening when Nana comes home from her dinner with Shouji she notices the Lotus flower tattoo on Nana Osaki her arm.

In the mall Nana Komatsu asks Osaki who her favourite singer is to which Osaki responds "Sid Vicious" (Sid Vicious was not the singer of the Sex PIstols but the bassist, he did however make a cover of the song "My Way" by Frank Sinatra) Nana Osaki says she knows about him since she saw the film Sid and Nancy a romantisid view of the life of Sid Vicious. ...
