This is possibly one of the greatest beginnings to one of the greatest anime series of all time. The story immediately defines itself, providing the moral dilemma among an amazing doctor, and the corruption in a system that is so vital to our survival. The manga doesn't hold any punches in the beginning, even starting off with a quote from the Book of Revelations. Immediately, we are shown Dr. Tenma's doubts, his wishes, and his fears, and you grow to love him in the span of five pages. We see his slow realization of his job as a doctor and his moral decision to save the child is powerful, only for us to be confronted with that feeling of moral success destroyed by who Johan turns out to be. A must read for any serious Manga fan.
