Recent high school transfer student Hasegawa Kodaka is pathetically inept at making friends. When he comes across the brash loner Mikazuki Yozora, who typically chats with her imaginary friend, the two outsiders become the unlikeliest of allies. Realizing that they have no hope of a normal social life, the two outcasts decide to form a group called "The Neighbor's Club" in order to make friends and maybe even learn a thing or two about social skills. As luck will have it, five new members join the club who are even more socially awkward than they. Will these misfits ever make normal friends, or are they all doomed to social failure? A wild and offbeat comedy about social outcasts who are obsessed with fandom.
Hasegawa Kodaka has transferred schools, and he's having a hard time making friends. It doesn't help that his blond hair tends to make people think he's a delinquent. One day, he runs into Yozora while she's talking to her imaginary friend Tomo. Realizing that neither of them have any actual friends, the two of them decide that the best way to alter this situation is to form the Neighbors Club (Rinjinbu) and start recruiting.
A busty blonde girl tries to get into the club, but Yozora jealously tries to keep her out. However, the girl manages to get in through a window. Her name is Sena, though Yozora calls her "Meat" due to her large chest. She claims that while she has a lot of male hangers-on, she has no regular friends because everyone is too intimidated by her. Yozora wants to keep her out, but Kodaka calms her down before accepting Sena into their club.
Yozora, Sena and Kodaka decide to try playing a Monster Hunter game with each other to help build friendly bonds with each other. However, while Kodaka has some fun playing the game, Yozora and Sena spend too much time griefing each other, until the entire party dies against one boss character.
Yozora and Sena play a galge in the club room, but their personalities cause the main character of the game to make bad choices, eventually turning off all potential love interests and reaching a bad ending. Even so, Sena decides to play the game again.
Kodaka suspects that someone is stalking him. It turns out to be a feminine-looking boy who admires him from afar. Yozora decides to make him the club's unofficial maid.
