The oft-rumored, oft-delayed VOLTRON movie might be having a hell of a time launching off-ground - - as you’ve seen again, and again, and again - - but these production drawings from Joblo evidence that there’s at least a pretty passionate push to progress this project. Atlas Entertainment, who's produced a diverse slate of films including 12 MONKEYS, THE BANK JOB and SEASON OF THE WITCH, is the latest company to take a swing at this. For scripting duties, they’ve brought on Thomas Donnely and Joshua Oppenheimer, the writing duo behind the upcoming adaptations of CONAN, DR. STRANGE and the UNCHARTED games.
Here are the other two pics...Will this happen? Won’t it? It’s hard to say, because it seems like talks about this movies have abounded for years, now. I’d imagine that, in the wake of the absurd success of TRANSFORMERS, giant robot movies would be "in." It'd be kind-of a crying shame if the only super sentai group to got their shot at the big screen would remain the Power Rangers. I’ve been a little skeptical about how mecha action would look in live action - - I've grown up on fumbling Zords battling rubber monsters in plywood cityscapes - - but I have to say these pics look four kinds of bad ass. I'm a lot more interested in seeing this, now.
Do you Anime Vice lunatics concur? Do these pics impress? Would you want to see a Voltron cartoon? Or is it best left as is, in all its pristine anime purity?
