Unfortunately, even now there's not a lot of information. Here's what VIZ CEO Hidemi Fukuhara offers:
"Viz Media is in the process of refining its focus and is restructuring to adjust to changing industry and financial market realities. VIZ feels confident that with these changes, the company will be more streamlined to face the current economic climate."
Very unspecific, but VIZ isn't usually one to air its laundry publicly. Regrets to those who are laid off, and let's hope that this ensure that VIZ will weather the current storms.
