Vergo is a Vice-Admiral of the Marines who infiltrated their ranks on the orders of his pirate captain, Donquixote Doflamingo.
Vergo is a loyal member of Donquixote Doflamingo's pirate crew. On his captain's orders, he joined the Marines as a spy and excelled up the ranks to the position of vice-admiral. His task became harder as a spy when Vice-Admiral Smoker and Captain Tashigi were stationed with the G-5. He assisted the scientist Caesar Clown in covering up the missing children of the New World. He reported the children were dead, but they had actually been taken to Punk Hazard Island to be used as guinea pigs for Caesar's experiments.
Vergo is an antagonist in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. He would later appear in the Punk Hazard Island Arc that began in Volume 66.
His first appearance was in One Piece Volume 68 CH. 672 "My Name is Kinemon!!", and his first anime appearance was in One Piece - Episode 597 "An Intense Battle! Caesar Exercises His True Power!". His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Junichi Suwabe, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to be announced.
On Donquixote's orders, Vergo traveled to Punk Hazard to meet up with their spy Monet and see what Trafalgar Law, a former comrade, were up to. Law was in collusion with the Straw Hat Pirates to capture Caesar, but Vergo halted that plan when he arrived and captured Law. He was locked in a cage along with the Straw Hats, Smoker, and Tashigi. They later put their prisoners outside to die by the Shinokuni gas Caesar had unleashed on the island for the weapon brokers watching.
Law and the others managed an escape from their cell and get back into the labs with the other G-5 members. Vergo was striking to kill both Tashigi and his former G-5 subordinates, but he was stopped by Sanji. They got through the closing gate to escape the gas, and Vergo reported the situation to Donquixote, who ordered him to kill Trafalgar Law. He confronted Law in the SAD weapon room, he seemed to be winning the fight, but was interrupted by an enraged Smoker.
The Six Powers( 六式, Rokushiki) is a style of martial arts that was developed partly to counter the incredible powers of Devil Fruit users. There are six basic attacks that are taught in the Six Powers, and it's unknown just how many Vergo has been trained to use.
