The repairs on Marineford are taking place, but the higher-ups are in a serious panic. Thanks to Luffy. Four days earlier, Luffy made a bold appearance after high jacking a Marine ship with Jimbei and Rayleigh. They sail around Marineford once, then sail in to port. All the soldiers are too scared to fight him. Seems the really strong fighters are scattered around the globe dealing with all the pirate uprisings. Luffy makes his way to the Ox Bell and rings it 16 times before tossing some flowers into the chasm and praying. All the journalist there are in a frenzy and take tons of pictures. Seeing Luffy with Silver's Rayleigh really makes people wonder if Luffy is suppose to be the successor to Gold Roger now.

The news has spread over the world, and the Marines have taken this as a declaration of war against them. The Elder Stars are worried because the balance of power is off on all fronts. There is one less of the Four Emperors, Marines are suffering from the war, and they now have three vacancies in the Shichibukai.

Sengoku and Garp are retiring to teach the coming soldiers, and Sengoku has nominated Aokiji as the next Fleet-Admiral. He returns to Marineford and doesn't mind that Luffy invaded earlier. Coby has only now realized that he has a power of Haki, and that all the Vice-Admirals are using that. He has to go to Garp to learn more. Smoker meets with Aokiji, and he's looking for a transfer to the M5 Base in the New World. He wants to be close to his prey.

Eustass Kid now wants to challenge Luffy

In the New World, Eustass Kid has read the paper and wants to know about this bell Luffy rang and the meaning behind ringing it 16 times. Killer explains that the Marines ring that bell at the end and the beginning of the year. 8 times to ring out the old year, and 8 more times as a prayer for the next year. Eustass believes Luffy is saying that the end of Whitebeard is over and he is going to begin the New Era. Eustass isn't too happy with the breed of pirates in the New World. The ones he captured keep saying they want to return to "paradise", meaning the first half of the Grand Line. the rest of the Eleven Supernovas are having challenges. Except Basil Hawkins who is going to kill Brownbeard.

  • Blackbeard only appears in this episode as he's being talked about by the Gorousei.
