A semi-futuristic detective story, produced by Studio Bones with the original FMA staff animating.

Summary

Set in the near-future, In the wake of Japan's own fight against terrorism that resulted in catastrophic damage across the land, a media mogul named Rinroku Kaishou uses information gleaned from his vast network of technology and other contacts to help the police solve many crimes. He is lauded as a savior to Japan, in contrast to "The Defeated Detective" Shijuuro Yuuki and his odd assistant Inga. Those two often show up at the wrong time and reach the wrong conclusion, and are mocked with that nickname for it.

In reality, Yuuki and Inga are the ones called in by Rinroku to solve the cases too delicate for him to touch. Once they find the truth, Rinroku then massages the information for a Japanese public still reeling from its own war against terrorists. Even though the public might mock them, in private Yuuki is "The Last Great Detective."

Creation

Partly based on the original novel Meiji Kaika Ango Torimonocho by Sakaguchi Ango. Ango wrote a story about a detective named Yuki Shinjuro, set in the Meiji era, who solved various incidents that afflicted his circle of friends.
