Episode 10: Turning the Tides

As Korra recuperates from her recent abduction, the Equalists move forward with their plans to take over Republic City. Tensions mounts between the kids as Tenzin tries to organize a counterattack with some chilling news to follow. Korra knows that now is the time to fight back against Amon and his forces.

Plot Summary

Korra recovers from her injuries as Mako watches over her as Asami looks on with scorn. Lin and Tenzin ask Korra what happened as she explains the fatherly tie Tarrlok had with Yakone as well as how Amon was able to get the slip on him before taking his bending away. Tenzin knows that Amon is pushing forward with his final plans as he plans to head to the Council for a meeting. Asami and Mako discuss the incident that took place with the kiss with Korra as he asks to discuss it later. Tenzin asks Lin to watch over his family as he rushes out. However, elsewhere in town, the Fire Nation Councilor is abducted by the Lieutenant before she can leave.

When Tenzin arrives, he is ambushed by Equalists as he fights them off. The Council Page is relieved to see Tenzin unharmed but tells him that he is in charge of Republic City since all the other councilors have been abducted. Before he can act, the Equalists launch several bombs on the city as Amon is going through with the final strike. Tenzin meets with Saikhan to organize the city while Korra and her team get ready to fight in the city. As the two teams try to fight back, the metalbending police station is gassed as Equalist power mechas attack Tenzin and Saikhan. Tenzin manages to fight them off before Saikhan is captured. As the Equalists load Tenzin into a truck, Korra, Bolin, Mako, and Asami are able to fend off the remaining troops before getting ready for the next attack. But in the distance, Mako sees that Equalist zeppelins touch down at Air Temple Island.

As the Lieutenant leads the attack, the Order of the White Lotus fends them off as Lin watches over the airbender children and Pema. Trying to calm them down, Pema cries out as she goes into labor with her child as Lin gets them inside. The Equalists approach as she is able to best them but is subdued by them. Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo intervene, able to use their airbending to save her as Tenzin arrives. Scolding Lin for letting his kids fight, he rushes to see Pema and his new child. Finding it to be a boy, they name him Rohan as the children admire the newborn. Korra interrupts though as she reminds them that more Equalists are on the way.

Tenzin knows that he can't keep his family in Republic City as he makes plans to escape with them. He tells Korra that she must lay low as well as the United Forces are on their way and that when he gets back, they will win the war. Korra reluctantly agrees, knowing she must be patient as Lin leaves with Tenzin and his family. It is not enough as the Equalists are able to hone in on them on their air bison. Lin fends off an attack and tells Tenzin to keep going as she takes down one of the zeppelins before getting captured on the second one. They take her back to Amon who offers to let her keep her bending in exchange for the location of Tenzin. She denies him as he takes her bending away. Korra goes into hiding with the others as the United Forces navy is on their way, led by a young man named General Iroh of the Fire Nation.
