He along when others wanted to try and hide out somewhere. When he was challenged on where, he directed his anger at Takashi, though he had no idea what he had done in the past to upset Tsunoda. Before his anger led to violence, He was knocked down by a sharp jab to the gut with a pole by Rei Miyamoto.
Shidou took Tsunoda's actions as an excuse to appoint a leader for the group and he nominated himself. He gave a grand little speech that Tsunoda and others found influential. Shidou took their support to mean he had majority rule over the people on the bus, but some from Takashi's group refused to follow. Eventually, Team Takashi left the bus and Tsunoda and the rest remained to follow Shidou in what had become a new cult, The Order of Shido. he had convinced them that they were all angels that would lead the new world. Shido even organized orgies for the students to take part in, more often paired with Miku Yuuki. When another member, Yamada, started to question Shido's design, Tsunoda and Miku taunted him and have sex right in front of him. Later, they tossed Yamada from the bus as a non-believer and left him outside to die.
Shido had sent Kurokami in to spy at that Takagi Estate, that was being used as a shelter and stronghold. They were at first welcomed to the shelter before the owner, Souichiro Takagi, appeared. He knew the kind of person Shidou and his father were. They were then cast out . As they were riding away, a nuclear armament had been detonated in the atmosphere. This had sent out an EMP blast that disabled their bus and they crashed into the cement blockade, in the roads surrounding the estate. The crash lured a horde of Them. Tsunoda, Miku, and Shidou managed to survive and reach the Shintoko Third Elementary School, where the JSDF (Japanese Self Defense Force) have been organizing the evacuations.
