A revised version of the main characters of Cardcaptor Sakura join with some new characters in a new worldsetting, where they traipse around various universes featuring different versions of characters from other CLAMP series.

Syaoran and Sakura-- based on the characters from another CLAMP series, Cardcaptor Sakura --are childhood friends, now teenagers. Syaoran is a student archaeologist and Sakura is the princess of their kingdom, which is ruled by her older brother Tooya. One day as Sakura visits an archeology site of Syaoran's, a mysterious force eminates from a symbol that draws Sakura into the sky and grows wings from her back. Syaoran manages to save her from being ripped to pieces herself, but the wings were torn to shreds and feathers scattered around different dimensions. The feathers, it turns out, represent Sakura's memories, all of which she has lost. In a desperate move, the kingdom's priest sends Syaoran and Sakura to the house of the witch Yuuko, where Syaoran also meets Fai and Kurogane. All three of them wish to traverse through various worlds, for different reasons-- Syaoran to find Sakura's feathers, Fai to avoid his home world, and Kurogane to get back to his world. They each trade something very precious to Yuuko for the ability to travel. Syaoran trades his memories with Sakura, which she will never remember even if he finds all her feathers. Fai trades the tattoo on his back which controls his magic and Kurogane trades his sword. As with many CLAMP series, Tsubasa Chronicle starts out as a journey-- even a fun romp, at times --but gradually takes on a darker tone as the characters learn more about the situation they're a part of.
