The Uchiha clan was plotting a coup d’etat. The story as told by Madara leaves Sasuke at a loss for words. Because of his gifted talent, Itachi was forced to suffer, torn between his loyalties to the Leaf Village and the Uchiha clan.

Points of Interest

• This episode is part one of the reason why Itachi killed off the Uchiha Clan.
• Madara claims that itachi was lying about him being the one who unleashed the Nine-Tails on the village, but that is actually true.
• When Itachi first appears in the Leaf Village in Naruto - Episode 81. It was to make Danzo aware that he was still alive and not to make a move on Sasuke, in fear his crimes would be made public.
• This episode, Sasuke's Team Snake is renamed to Team Hawk. None of the other members have any spoken lines.
