Hello everyone, this is just a personal log I do, so I can track of what I have done and what team projects I'm involved with. I will post a community's wiki progress for the quadmester of all the current projects that everyone in the site is working on. I have kept tabs on my teammates, solo editors, and new wiki editors. Partly because I do the Wiki Editor archives (see the most recent one: Wiki Editors Project Archive 2013) This is will be brief since I have a lot of things to do. The purpose is to manage my time. I'm bad at time management because I have school, mod roles in Anime Vice, and Admin roles in the Animanga Wikia sites. Don't want to take up too much on my plate.

Individual Wiki Projects

After sampling the new spring 2014 shows (see Spring 2014 Anime Guidevmy teammates and I have done), I pick these two shows. These shows' wiki pages don't conflict with the New Spring 2014 Wiki Task Projects.

Chaika - The Coffin Princess
Started in April 10, 2014:
I'm pretty going to write the episode summaries due to being my specialty.
2. Fairy Tail
Started way back in December 2010 or so.
For the first time ever, I think I'll be alone on this project. This project had a huge team of wiki editors in 2010-2011. Then, it came down to Annabanana, Daniel, and me working in 2012. 2013 - it was Daniel and me. Now, Daniel is busy as the editor for Bago Games. I appreciate everyone's hard work in the past. Wales, Obscure Fan, Buhssuht, and Annabanana were the top wiki editors in those days. Fairy Tail wiki pages had the most love in the community. It's only rivaled by Toriko whose wiki projects rocked all niches in the Anime Vice community.

It's cool. I'll be doing the same thing, writing episode summaries.

Team Projects

I'm lucky to have teammates on these wiki projects. Due to a recent talk with Kuma, there is some implications that having a team means having a leader. I don't really agree with that view point much to Kuma's respect. I'm pretty much a community oriented person. We all work together on different things and contribute for the community.

Here is my progress report.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
Finished all of the 2nd season's episode summaries on April 3.
Bigz007 uploaded screenshots while I worked on the episode summaries. We didn't have time to work on the character pages. Taichokage and WayBig express interest in the character pages and request some bounty tasks. I put out bounty tasks for Sinbad and Hakuryuu.
Toriko
Started out in Fall 2013 with Yusuke52 and I creating the Toriko pages. We were lucky to have Taichokage, WayBig, Othus12, SpeedForceSpider, ForgottenOne joining the project in January 2014. See Toriko Recognition Blog.

Unlike past team projects I worked with, this project heavily emphasizes character pages. Taichokage and Yusuke52 completed a majority of the character wiki pages. ForgottenOne focus on concept pages. Othus12 and SpeedForceSpider did their first character pages while WayBig was on a good start with 2 character pages. For me, I'm currently working on 3 character pages and did a few episode pages. Bigz007 added story arcs boxes and characters to all episode pages.

The wiki bounty tasks along with the battle themes help boost the awareness of the project. Lots of character pages were completed. It's thanks to the Toriko wiki gang. We celebrated our success with the TORIKO Roundtable.
The Seven Deadly Sins
Started out in Fall 2013 with DestinyHeroKnight, Bigz007, Low, SMXLR8, ForgottenOne, and Taichokage. It's a small project since my teammates DestinyHeroKnight and Bigz007 were mostly foundation editor types. Low and SMXLR8 were young wiki editors with little experiences. I couldn't do much since I didn't have time to read the series. Taichokage and ForgottenOne did a fine job on the wiki pages. They were the ones who benefit from the bounty tasks.

Katmic, a non wiki editor, is a pillar of support. He helps promote the series by writing chapter reviews on it. We also have a The Seven Deadly Sins Discussion (Manga), too.
Kill la Kill
Started out in October 3, 2014: This project had the most mods on it. Daniel was the episode formatter, Foxx was working on character pages, notably Ryuko and Satsuki, Bigz007 helped with uploading images, Dekken helped with profile portraits, KingofAsh worked on concept and object pages, and I focused on the episode summaries.

I finished all of the episode summaries on March 31, 2014. Right now, my teammates are busy. Hopefully, we will work on the characters. That would be it. This project is almost to completion excluding the manga series.

Toriko Recognition Project - All winners get a Chopper trophy!

Welcome everyone to the Toriko Recognition Blog! Yusuke52 was the one who started the project back in fall 2013. I wanted to help out, but it was a big task because there were not much pages. In fact, the only character page in the Toriko wiki database at the time was just Toriko. He and I started promoting the project and doing an outreach in the community. A lot has change when our gang grew in January. (See AV's Newest Wiki Projects Updates: Toriko and Seven Deadly Sins) It was awesome seeing folks from different niches joining our team. I would love to give out recognition to our community members who contributed to Toriko whether through wiki, blogs, and promotion in the battle threads.

Stay tuned, my teammates and I will do a Roundtable discussion on Toriko. It will posted on the front news thanks to our staff, Tom Pinchuk.

Toriko Wiki Gang

Here are my teammates who I'm proud to introduce. Please read their statements on how they got into Toriko and what they love about it.

I have a hard time uploading images for my teammates since AV is lagging since last week's four day lag. I listed their top five wiki pages in the Toriko project. For an exhaustive list of their wiki contributions, you can check out the Toriko wiki list where I record what they did as well as the creation dates for the Toriko wiki pages.

Yusuke52

Yusuke52 is a big video game fan. He loves Animal Crossing. (I didn't get his full list) He's a pro at writing up characters, franchise, and concept pages. He's a creative wiki editors. For his Capture Level page, he created an exhaustive list of all the Gourmet Beasts. It was an outstanding job he finished.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko (franchise page)
  2. Ichiryuu
  3. Capture Level
  4. Joa
  5. Chin Chinchin

His Take on Toriko:

I got my first look at Toriko back when I was debating in the battle forum. Just before I stopped debating there, Toriko was gaining some ground and recognition, and after a reading a few recommendations from people like Othus12, I went and read a few chapters and found that I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I didn’t really get into it for about a year but that was due to other personal aspects of my life causing me to lose my drive for anime and manga, which caused me to drop a few series, Toriko being one of them. The person who really got me back into it was a friend of mine who also happened to be a big fan of the series, something I only realised when I saw him buy a few volumes at a local bookstore. He gave me 2 volumes to start off with, and that was around my birthday last year. I took it from there and starting reading on and discussing the different arcs and characters with him.

The reason I like it would have to be that it’s very unique. I really like the way Mitsutoshi uses suggestions mailed in from the readers to create many of the animals and ingredients, something which adds great variety to the world, variety that I don't think many writters could achieve using their own ideas. The history, lore, details, and of course the characters have enough depth and substance to keep me invested in the series without losing interest too quickly. But I think the best thing about it is that it does an amazing job of keeping itself fresh and never ends up running stale like many series I have read. In my opinion, its story arcs don’t overstay their welcome, ending at the right moment before a new arc is introduced and it begins by changing up the location to something completely different and unique and adding in new and crazy animals and ingredients. Since I personally only keep up to date with a select few manga, some of which are now ending, it was a welcome addition.

Taichokage

A battle veteran in our community, Taichokage was a beast in the wiki pages. He's a character specialist, and boy, his memory is so sharp that he doesn't need to refer back to the source material. He can whip character pages in a day. While he hangs out in our community, he likes making lists of groups in Shonen and folks with guns.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Zebra
  2. Midora
  3. Sunny
  4. Starjun
  5. Gowther

His Take on Toriko:

I took a real liking to Toriko after the later events in the Century Soup arc, around the 60 chapter mark. The intensity of the final bout was something I rarely have seen in Shounen. Mitsutoshi will put in old school levels of violence that you tend to only see in Seinen these days rather than Shounen. My favorite aspect of Toriko would have to be the characters. I've always thought that great characters can make up for average or sub par plot, but even the plot while not very complex is not lacking with Toriko. I like ALL of the main characters which is rare for me and they're all so different from one another. The art style is fairly unique. It bears somewhat of a resemblance to DBZ art but the art for the characters is very different.

I first looked at Toriko back in 2011 when it only had about 118 chapters and months before the anime began. I took interest in it but events in my life temporarily took me away from anime/manga. It was my longest hiatus from anime/manga since I got into it back in 2006. When I came back to anime/manga, I had almost forgotten about Toriko until early 2013 when my buddy othus12 was promoting it like no other. SpeedforceSpider, another friend was also highly complimentary of it as were a few others. I decided to make it my next manga to read once I had caught up to Magi. By the time I caught up just over a year ago, it had become one of my 2 favorite Shounen, the other being Magi. Needless to say, reading those 2 back to back was probably the most fun I've had with manga to date.

ForgottenOne

He was one of the new wiki editors I met back in fall 2013. Having moderated his wiki, I can tell he was a dedicated person. Besides Toriko, he loves Medaka Box and contributes on the wiki project. On the Toriko wiki pages, he specializes in concept pages as well as character pages. He is a very organized editor on our team.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Full Course Menu
  2. Four Heavenly Kings
  3. Tengu Brunch
  4. Grinpatch
  5. Cooking Festival (Toriko)

His Take on Toriko:

I decided to try Toriko after my friend showed me a picture from a battle thread about the Mountain Turtle surviving bombardment from the army. I also heard high praise of Toriko by some people from different forums, this one too but it was mainly from othus at that point. The main thing I like about Toriko are those moments of shock such as Jirou's grand knocking and Midora's Hungry Space. The brutal fights also helps keep me attached to this series.

Bigz007

He was one of the most dedicated wiki editors specializing in uploading anime screenshots especially for Title Card and Eyecatch. He is an old teammate of mine because we work on so many wiki projects together. Being a big fan of Shonen series, he loves all sorts of genre. His motto is to never drop a show. In the community, he likes making lists to keep track of characters with common fashion or abilities like ridiculous number of swords and eyepatches.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko Episode Pages - He did a entire marathon on the series. He attached characters to the pages. Along with Yusuke52, he helps create new character pages. He also added story arc boxes to every episode. That's quite an accomplishment there.

His Take on Toriko:

Toriko was on my want to watch list for a long time and I was always kinda pushing it down because I want to watch so many things and my time is limited. Ever since AnimeVice crew launched Toriko project, I was more and more interested in this anime, and I also wanted to help them out with some wiki work.

The thing I didn't like at first is that the main crew start of very strong and I thought it would be hard to make those characters develop the right way because of that, but after some time I realized I was wrong and that there is really a lot of space for those characters to develop in every single aspect.

For me Toriko is really on the borderline between DBZ and One Piece, and that is not only because there are crossover episodes with those two franchises. It's like a combo of One Piece world and DBZ crazy overpowered characters.

WayBig1010101

Being a veteran in the battle forum like Taichokage, he contributed to our project. He is a big fan of MMA and wants to play the piano. In addition to his love of Toriko, he loves Fullmetal Alchemist, Clannad, and Future Diary. Check out his lists to find out more! Even though he was busy, he worked and made a great page for Setsuno. Besides his wiki contributions, he promotes the Toriko and other underrated franchises when he was the Battlation Of February 2014.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Jirou
  2. Setsuno

His Take on Toriko:

Well I was first introduce to Toriko here on Anime Vice. A certain user by the name of Othus12 caught my attention when he started to debate about Toriko in the battle forms. Othus12's debates over toriko were so interesting that it became one of the main topics here on the vice and I continue to read the debates. Eventually I joined the Toriko debates and the more and more I debated, the more and more my knowledge of Toriko increased. In the end what really got me to try Toriko was not so much how powerful the series was, but just how much passion debaters such as othus12 were in their Toriko debates, which after leaning so much about the series decided to give it a chance.

At first Toriko was really hard to get into for me personally because I really did not think that a story with a premise that was centered around food in a shonen was going to be that good and the first couple of episodes my initial opinion was so far not changed. Besides the main character, Toriko, every other character at first felt either mediocre or generic and Komatsu, who is the main character sidekick, was so annoying for me that along with my other feelings for the series almost made me give up Toriko. What kept me in Toriko was the introduction of the other heavenly kings and the plot of the story. The new characters and the plot got me much more invested into the series and after a while of getting use to the bizarre concepts and the development of the core characters, I was able to finally experience the hype that surrounded Toriko, which only got better when I changed from anime to manga. What keeps me invested in Toriko ironically is the very first things that I did not enjoy about the story, which was the characters and the story, along with the insane fights, powerups, and creatively makes Toriko as of today one of my most enjoyable series to follow.

SpeedForceSpider

He is also one of the experienced folks in Anime Vice's battle forums. He is a big fan of Shonen and ecchi shows. Check out his Anime Babes list which shows he loves big boobs! He helped out with the wiki project. As Battlation Of January 2014, he promoted Toriko as well.

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Zebra

His Take on Toriko:

Well I became interested in Toriko largely due to my interest in GAR type characters. Toriko reminds me of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Fist of the North Star with a theme of food instead so that was a main factor in it. At first I was a bit iffy on it until the other King's started appearing, the villains were introduced, and the plot thickened. The thing I like the most about it however, is the fact that the entire cast is unique and they all have creative and interesting powers. Toriko is the type of series that seems like it will be a typical shonen on the surface until you give it a chance. I also find it cool the cast is full of mature adults instead of goofy teenagers who get beat up by female characters in a gag like scenario. Much better than the HST in every way, shape, or form to be honest.

Othus12

A friend of SpeedForceSpider, WayBig1010101, and Taichokage, he's is one the active users in the battle forums with a wealth of experience. He's a big fan of comics and manga particularly Shonen. His two biggest favorite Shonen series are Toriko and One Piece. Like his friends, he help promoted Toriko in the battle forums (Battlation Of March 2014)

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Toriko

His Take on Toriko:

At some point, I ran out of manga to read, and I was looking for something that would keep me entertained. I found Toriko, and ever since the first chapter, I found it awesome! What I like about Toriko the most is the locations and the ingredients. They seem very creative IMO. I also love the characters and the wild battles!

Takashichea

Best Wiki Accomplishments:

  1. Tina
  2. Komatsu
  3. A few Toriko episodes - I may not be able to add plot summaries to every episode. I'll do as much as I can.

His Take on Toriko:

I got into Toriko because it was a popular franchise in the battle forums. Before I explore the battle forums as a new mod back in the fall, I was asked by Yusuke52 to help out with the Toriko project. When I first published the Crunchyroll streams Toriko news blog, I was talking with Screenivas. We both said Toriko wasn't that popular in the site. Ironically, I never knew it was popular in the battle forums at that time. Yusuke52 saw our conversations and pointed out that there wasn't much Toriko wiki pages or anyone working. He asked for my help. I tried it out to see if I liked it. Sure enough, I like the series not too strongly like I love Fairy Tail and One Piece. It was good anime series with lovable characters. My favorite character so far is Coco. It was a strange Shonen series that's all about food. The beginning scenes by the narrator reminds of Willy Wonka at some points. It was a unique show with a dude in distress. Most Shonen shows have damsel in distress, and pretty much the supporting characters can fend for themselves. Komatsu is one strange character. He's an integral part of the series, and he's weak but gentle minded. His role remind me of Manta from Shaman King.

Honorable Mentions

Sorry, I rushed the blog. I meant to give out recognition to folks who contributed in the battle and discussion threads for Toriko.

Good morning Anime Vice! I'm one of the Toriko wiki editors, and I stumbled upon this news article in Crunchyroll. Instead of announcing Toriko anime is ending, I put the question, is Toriko ending or is it taking a break. When Fairy anime was announced to end back in March 2013, I wrote a sappy blog (News: Fairy Tail Anime is Coming to End, March 30) on Fairy Tail anime ending. I cause so many users to think it's truly ending. Then, the following year, Hiro Mashima announces the anime is coming back (Fairy Tail Anime is Back for Spring 2014). I don't want to cause another misunderstanding.

News

Toriko will end on March 30, 2014 after three long years, its first debut was April 2011. V Jump Magazine and Mantanweb stated that Dragon Ball Z Kai will take Toriko's time slot at 9 AM, April 6, on Fuji TV. Dragon Ball Z Kai will start the retelling of the Majin Buu saga.

For those who are new to Toriko, here is a summary:

In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important there exist individuals known as Bishoku-ya (luxury food providers) who specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Toriko is one of these hunters and it is his dream to find the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. As one of the most skilled hunters in the world he is regularly hired by restaurants and the rich to seek out new ingredients and rare animals. A man with inhuman ability, he utilizes his incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom to capture ferocious, evasive and rare beasts to further his final goal, the ultimate dinner course composed of the most delicious food in the world. He is currently accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko's ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and find rare ingredients.

In the latter parts of 2013, I notice we had two major wiki projects in addition to the usual Fall 2013 Wiki Project: New Anime Series.

If you guys are fans of these two franchises, please contribute. Before you dive in, always check the Anime Vice Wiki Style Guide and ask one of the veteran wiki editors on these projects to see what is needed to be done.

I'll start some wiki tasks for Seven Deadly Sins and Toriko. Don't worry, I will try to promote these two projects. I'm new to Toriko (about chapter 80 in) and haven't read Seven Deadly Sins yet. It's a wiki mod's duty to adapt to what Anime Vice community is working on.

TORIKO is initially set to broadcast every Monday at 10:00am Pacific Time. Starting on November 18, episode 130 will be made available for both premium and free members. Previous episodes will be available on Crunchyroll at a later date. More information can be found on www.crunchyroll.com/toriko.

Plot

TORIKO, written and illustrated by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro, is hailed as one of the most popular shonen titles next to giants like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and Hunter x Hunter by fans and critics alike. Back in 2012, it was the 11th best-selling manga series in Japan with over 3 million copies sold, and continued to exceed that as early as May 2013 with over 10 million copies sold.

“In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, individuals known as Bishoku-ya, specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Our protagonist, Toriko, possesses incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom in order to fulfill his dream to capture the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. Today’s returning guest is our good friend Angel and on this episode we are going to have a casual observational discussion on the longest and oldest running anime trends in Japan

For some of you this may sound like an episode where we tread the same old waters and discuss the most obvious of franchises….however you may be surprised to find there are more than a few shows that have never even passed Japanese borders and are more of a domestic hit than a more aware international one.

So with the help of Wikipedia and some sorting arrangements we take a somewhat brief look at the following lists……..take a look yourself folks it’s actually somewhat Intriguing

*Apologies for shaky audio quality at various points btw, technical difficulties were rampant for some reason!*

LIST OF LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES

LIST OF LONGEST RUNNING MANGA TITLES (We didn’t get around to this sadly)

LIST OF LONGEST RUNNING TV SHOWS: WORLDWIDE (off-topic but interesting)

__

Familiar Titles Discussed:-

Chi's Sweet Home, Sgt Frog, Crayon Shin-chan, Zatch Bell, Kirby: RBAY, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Ranma ½, Fairy Tail, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Toriko, Case Closed - Detective Conan

Unfamiliar Titles Discussed - which are actually the longest trending Anime Series

1. Sazae-san - 6197+ Episodes

2. Nintama Rantarō (Ninja Boy Rantaro) 1773+ Episodes

3. Ojarumaru (Prince Mackaroo) 1388+ Episodes

4. Soreike! Anpanman 1170+ Episodes

5. Chibi Maruko-chan 918+ Episodes

Before we end the podcast we do actually touch on the fact that in the western world having cartoon series trend for a long amount of time / episodes is not the norm. It seems like a much more character / franchise reboot model depending on how ratings go for an active series. Low ratings = show cancellation which usually sprouts room for a new “similar” project or a re-imagined series which may be more successful ala switching Young Justice for Teen Titans Go! / Beware the Batman.

Anyhow….

It’s actually funny a detailed talk on Pokemon isn’t here.....however we actually did have a discussion on that BEAST franchise…sadly it was before we started recording so we forgot to bring it up again but of course the details are....

Pokemon has been running for 17 straight seasons totalling in a whopping 800+ episodes excluding movies, side stories, OVA’s etc actually making it the third longest running anime TV series that runs for over 20 mins an episode….and I would not be surprised at all if this eventually becomes the longest running anime series of all time in future

But yeah sorry Pokemon we do clearly recognize your MEGA status….forgive us! :oP
