Adult Swim is nothing if not direct.
If you needed anything spelt out, Toonami will be officially returning in just ten days, bringing Adult Swim air time up into its own unique corner of the cosmos on the night of Saturday, May 26nd. Seeing as how Toonami’s been away since ’08, one can only just picture TOM (not, not me - - the robot dude) coming back after a four-year-long, Goku-style exile wherein he was training continuously in the vacuum of space.
Some may be shocked, even flabbergasted, at this news… but it shouldn’t come as any surprise.
Adult Swim’s now-legendary broadcast of new Toonami content on April 1st now looks obviously less like a prank and more like a tease to test the proverbial waters. Considering how those waters rippled and rippled, with our pal Richie Branson’s rap about the subject igniting a #bringbacktoonami trend, it all looks rather inevitable in hindsight, now, doesn't it?
No programming’s been officially announced yet, but we’ll all find out soon enough. In the meantime, Richie’s provided a couple teases off his own on Twitter…
UPDATE -- According to an official press release relayed by the Futon Critic, this block will run from midnight to six in the morning and feature "original anime programming" in addition to series returning from previous iterations of Toonami.
