Last year Dark Horse announced Domo-kun figures, then he became Target's Halloween mascot, and now he pops up at New York Comic Con, where TOKYOPOP issued a press release announcing that they're releasing a manga based on the flatulent former mascot for the NHK, Domo-kun.

Why the renaissance of Domo-kun, who hasn't been a working mascot for NHK in a few years now? It may trace back to Nickelodeon's 2006 Domo-kun shorts, I guess. But anyway, TOKYOPOP is releasing an all-color OEL Domo-kun manga this September.

I dunno; I like Domo-kun merch as much as the next geek, but a manga? You'll have to give us some sneak peeks in the near future, Tpop! Word is we'll be able to get more info here eventually.

*raises eyebrows* Domokun is cute but it's weird for him to be so popular especially last year... but hey whatever sells and can be merchanised up the wazoo means lots of moolah.
