MangaBlog has gotten in touch with TOKYOPOP Marketing Director Marco Pavia with regards to yesterday's reported cancellations of several volumes from the manga publisher. The main thing you need to know is that while these items are currently cancelled with Diamond, it does not mean that the series are being completely discontinued.

Basically this is part of the process of TOKYOPOP pacing its releases. That said, the .hack//SIGN novel special edition might wind up cancelled due to licensing issues-- but even that's not confirmed at this point. So don't worry, ARIA and Initial D fans, you'll still get your books...eventually. Most likely.

Well that's good that they should release eventually.

I hate to come off as a "Debbie Downer", but this clarification doesn't really renew my sense of faith in T-Pop. The economic times are just too bleak and uncertain.

Anytime I read about a DVD, light novel or manga series being placed on hiatus, postponed or given a longer release schedule, I just write it off as being canceled. I just do so to avoid raising my hopes too much because I've had them dashed far too many times, since 2006.
