In order to be released from a life sentence in jail, Akira must participate in a game called 'Igura' and defeat the "Il-Re".
After World War Three (also known as the Third Division) Japan is split into two. Not long after the war and the division, a crime monopoly 'Vischio' takes over former Tokyo, which is called 'Toshima'. In this dystopian future Japan, a game called 'Igura' is formed and the murderous bloodbath commences.
The game of Igura involves the killing of other participants in order to obtain dog tags. 'Igura' is modelled after a game of poker. Each participant is given five dog tags. Each dog tag is modelled after a card from a standard deck of playing cards. In order to get
The dog tags used in Igura
these dog tags, participants must go see the crime lord Arbitro, and tell them their reason for participating. When the participants begin the game, they must visibly wear at least one dog tag. The object of the game is to collect a Royal Flush (as in the standard poker hand) by winning battles against other players. A battle between another player is over once one of the fighters dies, or if their back touches the ground. At that point, the winner may take the looser's tags, and do what they want
with the looser, usually resulting in death. Once a player successfully gets a Royal Flush, they have the opportunity to challenge 'Il Re'.
Akira, a young boy who previously fought in a street fighting game called 'Bl@ster' under the name Lost, is framed for a crime, and sent to jail. But soon later, a mysterious woman comes and grants him freedom, but only if Akira agrees to play in Igura and defeat Il Re, the king of Igura. The story follows Akira and his experiences in Toshima, and his trials playing Igura.
The PC game is more yaoi oriented than the anime and the manga. The PC game allows you to play the path of Keisuke, Rin, Motomi, Shiki, Nano and Akira.
