The year is 2035. Tokyo was razed to the ground several years prior in the second Kanto Earthquake, but rebuilt into a new city, known as MegaTokyo, through the efforts of the Genom Corporation - a mega-corp who has fingers in all sorts of pies, but whose biggest business is the construction of artificial life forms called "Boomers" - life forms so dangerous that they can only be fought by the AD Police - the branch of the Tokyo Metropolitan police who specializes in Boomer crimes, and by the mysterious mercenary and vigilante group, the Knight Sabers.
Of the various members of the AD Police, the series focuses on Leon McNichol, a smooth, yet tough as nails, cop, and Daley Wong, his gay partner. Leon has the hots for rock singer Priss Asagiri, and Daley occasionally flirts with his partner.
The Knight Sabers are lead by Sylvia Stingray, whose father worked for Genom, specializing in Boomer research, until he was murdered by Brian J. Mason, a Genom executive. Before his death, Sylvia's father provided her, and her brother, Mackie, evidence that Mason was going after him, as well as designs for special powered armor - called Hard Suits. Once Sylvia grew up, she recruited three other women to become members of the Knight Sabers: Priss Asagiri, a former member of a biker gang, now a rock singer; Nene Romanova, a member of the AD Police, and Linna Yamazaki, a fitness instructor. Sylvia's own secret identity is as the proprietor of the lingerie store "Baby Doll".
After defeating a rampaging Boomer, the Knight Sabers are hired by the USSS (United States Space Service), to finding a missing scientist and a child, who they suspect were kidnapped by Boomers. Further investigation revealed that the scientist is actually a boomer, as is the child - the child in particular was meant to be control unit for the US's various orbital laser satellites. In the course of the fight with the Boomers, an abandoned area of Tokyo's waterfront is destroyed, and the Boomer child is presumably destroyed as well.
