Plot Summary

Opening Theme
Go For It by Gran Rodeo

It is the final lap of the IG-2 Championship race as Takeshi Jin, the forward for Team Satomi, has run off to take the lead leaving his team mates in the dirt. He is able to fend off against the forward of the opposite team but has a bit of trouble when the midfielder and defender comes up behind him. Even though his team mates defender Liz Ricarro and midfielder Amy Stapleton are able to fend off the attack, Takeshi guns it for the finish line. As the race comes to an end, the commentator for the IGPX Benjamin Bright criticizes the unorganized tactics of Team Satomi despite Takeshi's thrilling record. After checking the scores, it is clear that Team Satomi has won the IG-2 championship and will move on to the IG-1 where the professionals race. After the race, the team has a small press conference where their manager Michiru Satomi tells the world that she is proud of her team and knows they have what it takes to become champions.

The problem is is that the team doesn't feel as such as they spend a good amount of time bickering about how Takeshi has no idea what it means to work as a team. River Marque points out how he would have done better than Takeshi as they all continue to fight. Michiru is able to break it up as she told the world she has confidence in them but she notes that their biggest obstacle is themselves. Even though she wants to win, team coach Andrei Rublev tells them they'll be lucky to simply survive the IG-1 circuit. The group tries to calm down but things still seem tense as the IG-1 Ceremony rolls around the corner where Bright introduces the six teams that will be competing in the race this season as well as their respective pilots.

After introducing everyone, Bright has a few words with Alexander Cunningham Hume, the captain of Team Velhstein who won the last season. Since Cunningham is the most advanced pilot on the circuit, people want to know if he is keeping his eyes on anyone this season, to which he replies that his focus is on Team Satomi and Takeshi. People seem to be confused as to why as Cunningham explains that his style is like none he has ever seen and looks forward to getting the chance to race against them. Takeshi is stunned to hear this as the ceremony gets underway with a elegant party. However, he doesn't want to take any part of this as he locks himself in a bathroom and plays video games. As he tries to leave, Team Sledge Mamma comes by to 'introduce' him to the IG-1. Their captain Yamma explains how he doesn't like Takeshi since he has a massive ego and looks forward to beating him to the point of submission in the next race.

Takeshi tries to blow them off but he still remember their conversation in the back of his mind, even when he is trying to practice. He doesn't want to worry since he claims he always wins which team mechanic Mark Ramsey tells him he has to focus or else. Meanwhile, River is trying to get the go ahead from Michiru to race in the forward position which she denies. During the team meeting before the race, Andrei explains how Sledge Mamma is a veteran team who likes to cut corners and play a bit dirty in order to win. Even with a strategy, it seems that in the coming days for their first race against Sledge Mamma that everyone is on edge about winning and victory. Liz and Takeshi attempt to spar at a local dojo where Takeshi reveals how Yamma gave him the shake down before losing to Liz.

The next day is the first pro race for Team Satomi as everyone prepares for the race. Michiru gives the group a pep talk as they suit up for the race, Amy's cat Luca also suiting up as she has a system link that allows him to communicate with the team and co-pilot the mech. As the two teams board the track, Bright explains the rules of the IG-1 and how each lap is supposed to work. Everyone looks to be ready as the countdown begins and the race starts.
