He's a Lunatic, and the Moon comes out when he shows up. I get it, now!
He's a Lunatic, and the Moon comes out when he shows up. I get it, now!

Ah man… you mean I’m going to have to stay after the credits from here on out?

Watching these shows on streaming gets you used to X-ing out of the window once the outro starts. Unless it’s a catchy song, there’s not much reason to stick around. Sometimes, though, these shows gets a little cute and sprinkle in some slight differences like CODE GEASS would. Other times, they throw in something substantial that you’ll feel stupid for missing out on later.

Case in point - - we learn the (admittedly easy-to-deduce) secret identity of Lunatic at the end of this one. What that really means is that Hulu found a way to get me to sit through another ad for Gerber baby food, effectively reestablishing advertising’s dominion over the viewing experience. I’ll salute them for their cleverness, and also wonder how many spoiled 14-year-olds are going to pitch a fit about it the way they do for other free video-services like Vevo.

While we’re discussing the aforementioned identity reveal, I have to say I was terribly amused by how current-yet-retro that epilogue was. This episode’s all about the public turning on the heroes and sympathizing with this bloodthirsty upstart in the same way they’ve done with Azarael, the Eradicator, Gog and any of number of excessive vigilantes. It’s a superhero standard that’s been around since the 70s, yet we get the 2010’s twist of the characters looking eachother up on Wikipedia after their fight.

Digressions aside, this was another good’n that makes the familiar fresh with some honest characterizations. I’d comment about how amusing it is that these heroes are so careless about their secret identities, or how Hero TV’s getting its own NEW MUTANTS-style class of reject recruits, or how the Origami sub-plot’s essentially the Chameleon vs. Sandman… but that distracts from how appealing Kotetsu's firm-but-mellow handling is. He's become something like the Crocodile Dundee of superheroes.

Watch this episode "There is Always a Next Time" below, decide for yourself and then read my comments on the previous episode here.

I dislike it when antiheroes and vigilantes are to either extreme. Batman doesn't want to kill, Punisher loves killing. Lunatic appears to be the middle ground since he has only sought after violent people. He's not going after just any criminal and taking them out, at least in what we've seen so far.

And typically if there is more than 2.5 minutes left after the last commercial I stick around. There may be something before the credits. You're right, that's a good way to make people watch that final advertisement.

Ack its one thing i forgot to bring up with this series.Almsot every episode has some story after the credits.  I watch it on hulu with explorer. Then have chrome open  so during comercials i just tab out an read a bit online.

Not sure now if its just Tiger& Bunny haveing subtitle problems on hulu as well .Watching Kekkaishi on hulu an its haveing some of the same problems as this show did.Like iner thoughts are not subtitled. phone or flashback not as well.off screen voices basicly.Started on Kekkaishi  around ep 19ish i think for me.

Thing about the secret idenity .Tiger keeps a mask handy .Where as Bunny did the full discloser right off the bat. The rest keep it on the hush hush.

I'm bad with numbers, so it's just so hard to judge if enough time is left!

That happened to me suddenly too, but I haven't had a problem after I changed the color of the subs.

I know that Superman gets away with glasses and parting his hair differently, but Tiger's mask is a flimsy disguise!

The entire mask thing gets a little annoying after a while. I mean he doesn't even really change his hair style or clothes so it should be easy for people to at least figure out his identity.

Other than that this show is a very interesting take on superheroes.  I was waiting since the beginning to see someone who will challenge or even rival the heroes and how they will do it.  I guess it was either this or a legion of doom which is still a possibility

Does anyone have any theories as to the symbolism of Oroburous?

There's kind of a funny bit about the mask in a later episode.

Yes an no. I can see it as that sure. But in a world where heroes are tv stars an cosplay is the norm.. it works well enuff.Tho his voice is very noticable.I also think he wears the mask as a homage to.Even heroes have heroes .Wount say more about the mask or ill spoil it.

I will say the voice actor is awsome.Would be hard for me to watch it dubed now.Hes good at bringng serious or comic as the show needs.

But back to masks as side note. People are even using realistic old man masks now to rob banks an it works.Maybe people think the rest of him is a mask as well. becasue of his chin hair? Thats not a beard nor will i refer to it as such.
