This Sky, That Sky

The Kissuiso has just received an amazing offer to have a movie filmed there! Enishi has high hopes for this plan. Sui uncharacteristically gives Enishi permission to do everything he needs to make it work. The staff are abuzz with the possibility of playing roles in the movie. Some preliminary test shooting occurs at the inn, and we learn more about Enishi’s motivations.

Plot Summary

Tetsuo reassures Enishi

Enishi is once again visited by Takako. This time she is joined by Tetsuo, a movie production manager. Enishi seems to be lacking confidence in the plan that they will be presenting to Sui. The girls also attend one of the meetings for the managers of the hot spring inns of Yusonagi. At a meeting with Enishi, Takako, and Sui, Tetsuo reveals that he wants the Kissusio to make an appearance in a movie, which would bring in customers that have seen the movie and would want to stay at the inn at least once. Sui then talks with Enishi alone. Enishi explains how it’s not just the Kissuiso, at this rate all Yusonagi inns will get poorer and poorer. Sui says she won’t object to Enishi’s plans this time, and gives him free reign.

Ohana and the others are excited

Ohana and Nako talk about their summer plans. Nako plans on going to the beach with her brothers. Ohana plans on working at the Kissuiso. Tomoe rushes in and they are buzzing with the news that a film will be shot at the Kissuiso. The waitresses are wrangled and Tetsuo plans to have a small audition for them to play minor or even major roles. Jiroumaru also is tasked with doing some writing for the film. Tetsuo wants him to show some of the brightness of this place and suggests writing about the upcoming Bonbori Festival. Jiroumaru is honored and vows to try his best. On top of that, some parts of the Inn that have fallen out of use need to be cleaned up. In particular they need to restore a moss-covered pool to sparkly perfection for use in the film.

Enishi turns down an offer from the other inns who want to expand the set of the movie to the entirety of Yusonagi. The staff are impressed and comment how Enishi has changed. It seems almost everyone is exciting in playing a part in the movie, except for Minko. Some of the crew members for the movie arrive the next day, including the lead actress and her assistant. They begin doing test shots. Sui has the opportunity to wait on the lead actress’ room. The actress and her assistant comment on how nice the inn is. Sui reveals the Inn was already 60 years old when it was passed on to her.

Ohana and Minko cleaning the pool

Enishi and Takako turn out to be friends from college. When Enishi sees the girls cleaning the pool from his room, Enishi has a flashback to a day when he was in a pool and saw a cute girl in a mizugi, we do not see the girl’s face and it is not revealed who she is. Enishi remembers that both he and Sui believed Satsuki would be more suited to running the inn.
