There is a paper-thin difference between toughness and vengefulness

Isao Kondo is the chief of the Shinsengumi police force who claims that his butt is so hairy (like a gorilla's) that no woman will ever love him. However, while telling this to Otae, who is now working at a hostess bar, Otae responds that he is a good person and she would love him even for that little problem. Kondo ends up falling in love with her and asks her to marry him on the spot, but Otae punches him instead.

The next day, Otae finds herself stalked by Kondo wherever she goes, still convinced that the two of them are destined to be married. After an argument with Gintoki, Kondo challenges him to a duel with wooden swords for Otae's love.
