In Boris's past, he runs with his father and mother. They are fleeing from the vampire hunters until they realize that they have reach a dead end, a cliff over a vast sea. Boris's father is the first one to be killed, and the mother pushes Boris off the cliff to save him. She also gets killed.
Back at the present, Ryu and Tokagero watch a movie about Dracula. Tokagero is scare and wonders if vampires are really real, but Ryu reassures him. As soon as the movie gets more frightening, Tokagero runs out of the theater. Ryu who is alone talks about how vampires are not real, and Boris who is behind him agrees with Ryu's statement. Ryu attacks Boris, but Boris did not flinch and reappears behind Ryu and bite Ryu.
(Note: At the church, Yoh and group talk about vampire and if they really exists before Elie and Millie shows to the Church.)
The X-Laws and Team Lilly appears. The X-Laws are quarantining the town while explaining their purpose to Team Lilly. When Team Lilly hears the X-Laws condemning Yoh and his team due to Yoh is a descendant of Hao. Millie and Elie rush out to find Lyserg and the others. When the two girls arrive to the church, Ryu's body is there. Ryu attacks the two girls, but Horohoro freezes Ryu's body. After stopping Ryu, Yoh's group and the two girls talk about what has happened and what is the real reason for Ryu to act as a vampire. Damayaji, (whose identity is not revealed), tells Yoh about Vlad Tepes and how the impalement started the Vampire myths. Damayaji states that Vlad's descendants are here today to take revenge for their persecution.
Meanwhile at Izumo, the paper medium for the orges has finally finish sealing Hao's shikigamis. After Anna talks about how powerful the 1080 beads can be, Kino Asakura appears and says that everyone here would be killed if Anna did not have the 1080 beads. Yohmei wants Anna to deliver's Hao's book to Yoh. At first, Anna declines due to being a hassel, but when Yohmei says that Manta will pay for travel expenses, Anna rushes out and lassos Manta. Kino talks about how Anna is like her and is a good bride for the Asakura family while Yohmei feels bad for Yoh. Kino hits Yohmei immediately for that comment.
At the church, Horohoro and Lyserg takes the shift of Ren and Yoh. (Before this scene, Damayaji tells Boris not to mess up) As Horohoro sleeps, Lyserg thinks about the X-Laws and tells Horohoro to watch Ryu while he leaves to meet the X-Laws. When Lyserg meets the X-Laws and asks them how to beat the vampire, Marco tells Lyserg to be stronger. Back at the church, Ryu's ice melts (look closely and you see Damayji's oversoul slithering away). Ryu attacks Horohoro and turns him into a vampire. Lyserg appears and subdue Horohoro with his pendulum. When Ren and Yoh tells Lyserg to hold Horohoro, Lyserg pulls his wire tighter and finally tries to kill Horohoro with Big Ben Oversoul. However, Yoh tackles Lyserg while Ryu uses Tokagero to free Horohoro. Before Horohoro attacks, Yoh tells Damayaji to take Millie and Elie to a safe place. Yet, Damayaji is a shaman and one of Hao's followers, and he uses his oversoul to trap Elie and Millie. As he tells Boris to kill them, Boris stabs Damayaji in the back.
Yoh, Lyserg, and Ren arrive to help Millie and Elie but they see Boris's cold blooded deed. Boris explains that he is a vampire and a follower to Hao. He tells Yoh and gang that Boris is mere human who outlived his usefulness. Lyserg attacks Boris, but Boris appears behind me and bites him in the neck. Yoh, Milie, Elie, and Ren are too late to save Lyserg.

Points of Interests

Censorships and Deleted Scenes

  • In Boris's flashback, the Japanese version's vampire hunters has a white pointed hood which is similar to the Ku Klux Klan's attire. For the dub, the editors paint the hood black and make the point blunt. (See images) Also, the stabbing part is edited out in the dub version.
  • For deleted scenes, the dub version did not mention Vlad Dracula or Vlad Tepes I and deleted these scenes. The dialogue of Damayaji is greatly alter to only talk about vampires but not impalement or Vlad Tepes Dracula's history. (See images)

  • For more deleted scenes, the part where Boris stabs Damayji is deleted in the dub version.

  • Interestingly, the gun part is not deleted in the dub version but only the stabbing parts, Vlad Tepes scenes, and Ku Klux Klan references are edited out.

Anime and Manga Differences

In the manga, Boris Tepes Dracula meet Yoh and gang at Mesa Verdede. Damayji has a bigger role in the anime than his manga counterpart. Also in the manga, Boris has more members on his team when confronting Yoh's group.
In the manga, Boris explains his origin story while in the anime, Damayji explains Boris's origin story.
Unlike the manga, Boris attacks more members of Yoh's team and turns them into "vampires" than his manga counterpart.
