Saya and Diva confront each other finally. Saya explains her reasons for wanting to kill Diva and that she wants to protect the humans. Diva responds that that is easy for Saya as she was raised and treated like a human , whereas Diva was treated like an animal. Throughout Season 4 Diva had been made to be a more sympathetic character. In the way that she was not born a monster but the treatment she suffered as a child caused he to turn into one. This aspect of her character is really driven home in this episode.
Amshel and Hagi also continue their fight and assume their full Chiropteran forms. Outside, Lewis creates a diversion, which allows Kai to get David, who has been wounded to safety.
Diva asks Saya if she intends to kill her babies , since Saya believes in exterminating all Chiropterans. They both load their swords with their blood and start fighting. Nathan watches from the audience , and then Hagi arrives having believed to beat Amshel. Nathan convinces Hagi not to interfere and this fight is between Diva and Saya alone. As the battle rages on both Saya and Diva impale each other with their blades. It appears as though both will die, but as Diva begins to crystallize, Saya begins to heal. Saya shows remorse and tries to help Diva but she begins to shatter. Nathan brings her babies to her and she says goodbye to them. Nathan explains that Diva never really had an interest in Amshels plans and all she wanted was a family. Nathan explains that by mating with Riku her Diva’s blood lost some of its power and potency and that’s why it had no effect on Saya. Nathan asks Saya to kill him as his reason for living is gone, and Saya does just that. She sets herself to kill the babies just as Kai enters. Kai screams at Saya and tries to stop her, and Saya explains she is going to kill the babies, and then she must die also. Thus eliminating the Chiroptera from existence.
