A trip to get a new sword leaves Kirito battling a dragon and his fears.
In a blacksmith's workshop, Lisbeth finishes tempering Asuna's sword, and when Asuna tells her that she has to meet someone, Lisbeth gets suspicious as she notices Asuna's new earring. After Asuna leaves, Lisbeth realizes that Asuna has found someone precious to her, and she looks at her photo. Kirito enters Lisbeth's shop, and Lisbeth makes the impression that Kirito does not have enough money. Kirito asks her if she can make a sword better than an Elucidator. Lisbeth offers her sword, and when Kirito tests it out, it breaks upon impact with the Elucidator. Lisbeth screams in horror with her sword broken, and she yells at Kirito who states that her sword is weaker than his. When Lisbeth says she can make better swords with better materials, Kirito tells her that he can get it, and Lisbeth states that he needs to go with her. Kirito reluctantly accepts her into his party.
In the snowy Western Mountains on floor 55, Kirito hands his coat to Lisbeth who is a bit annoyed with Kirito. They arrive to a field of crystals, and Kirito tells her to hid among the crystals when the dragon appears. The dragon emerges from the crystals, and Kirito blocks its breath attack. Kirito cuts off the dragon's arm, and when Lizbeth appears, the dragon beats its wings to create a gust that blows Lisbeth who falls into the hole. After the two heal themselves with an item, Lisbeth finds out that she cannot use her teleport crystals. Kirito tries to run up the walls, but he falls down. As night falls, Lisbeth comments that she is sleeping near someone who she has never met. To add on, she remarks that Kirito is weird. She asks Kirito why he saves her, and Kirito replies that he would rather die with someone than to let them die alone. Lisbeth asks Kirito to hold her hand as they sleep. Next day, Lisbeth finds Kirito digging out a crystallite ingot. Kirito remarks that the dragon eats crystals and that the ingot is poop. When Lisbeth asks if the dragon is nocturnal since it's not here at the nest, the dragon appears and soars down into the hole. Kirito quickly grabs Lisbeth and stabs the dragon in order to ride the dragon to get out of the hole. In the sky, Kirito offers his hand to Lisbeth. Lisbeth tells Kirito that she likes him, but Kirito does not hear her. Yet, Lisbeth hugs him anyway.
Back in the workshop, Lisbeth pounds the crystal, and it starts to take form. Lisbeth calls it the Dark Repulsor, and Kirito thanks Lisbeth. Kirito tries to pay Lisbeth, but Lisbeth asks him to be his personal blacksmith. Before Lisbeth can finish her [[love confession]], Asuna enters the shop and hugs Lisbeth since Asuna thought Lisbeth is missing. Lisbeth learns that Asuna and Kirito are in the same group, and Asuna asks Kirito if he did anything weird to Lisbeth. While Asuna and Kirito bicker a bit, Lisbeth thinks Asuna and Kirito are together. When Asuna asks Lisbeth what is wrong, Lisbeth tells Asuna that Kirito is not bad. She leaves Asuna and Kirito to pick up supplies. By a little creek, Kirito finds Lisbeth sitting by herself. Lisbeth wipes her tears a bit, and she tells Kirito that she is okay. Kirito thanks Lisbeth and states that he is glad that they both survive. Lisbeth states that she is looking for something in the real world which was the warmth of his hands. She asks Kirito to end this world, and she smiles at Kirito.
