A good start, but... Reviewed by Gintoki on Feb. 26, 2011. Gintoki has written 1 review. His/her last review was for The School Council in Action. 1 out of 1 users recommend his reviews. 1 out of 1 user found this review helpful.
I saw some real potential in this one, when about a year ago I started reading Medaka Box. The art was great from the beginning and the characters didn't pop a single vein before the third chapter(That's a rare and appreciated quality). Nisioisin Himself had written this, so it couldn't be THAT bad. Well,...up to 12 chapters, the story had given hints of some bigger sort of storyline, but giving us one about some school-made superhumans and their weird skills......nah. The fights were interesting for some time(eg. Senkichi vs. that guy with numerous swords), but suddenly the "fearsome superhumans" started falling into every cliche there can be found. A masked guy, a muscleman, a cyborg and of course...they all have some serious issues and unstable minds. Who could have guessed?! Soon after that, a new  big horde of raving loonies was introduced, resulting only to no one remembering these freaks after they would be defeated. I don't want spoil more than I already have, but around the chapter number 50, the story takes another giant fall. Two weeks after that, I gave the series up. Only once I've taken a peek from the japanese Shonen Jumps I've bought. Deeply regretting...
It's sad, that such a talented artist has to waste his skills on to something like this. I'ts been about 9 months, since I quit Medaka Box. It might have gotten over that terrible and terribly long storyline already.  A new chance would probably be given, if so. But then again...Medaka and her companions kicked me in the teeth, when I was eagerly expecting for a turn to the better. A dog never trusts those who have kicked it.
