I don't usually post a lot of sales, but Right Stuf is having a massive deal on stuff from their bargain bin, some of which is up to 95% off. Now, some of this is stuff you'll be pretty familiar with-- Afro Samurai t-shirts, Beck volume 1 with artbox, etc. On the other hand, some of it is pretty off the wall. Here are the weirdest things I found on sale:

It's kind of like a weird time capsule. I had no idea that Geneon had put out a bunch of random Lee Van Cleef and David Niven movies...

If you guys decide to go through everything, keep an eye out for special deals. For example, Samurai Champloo DVD 1? $6. Samurai Champloo DVD 1 with CD? $5. Have fun! And if you find anything else that's goofy be sure and share it with us!

I must admit I'm tempted by the 30th Anniversary All Star Jam. Particularly since Bo Diddley (who originally recorded "Who Do You Love" which was later covered by George Thorogood and the Destroyers - who made it a big hit) has since passed away.

All Star Jam tempted me too.  I rarely order from Right Stuf due to having to pay sales tax, but I do like to take advantage of sales like this.  Looks like they're really clearing space in their warehouse.

There's a poster from the Lensman anime that has been sitting on my wishlist for, um... I think 2 years now.  I can't quite bring myself to buy it even though I love the source material (Lensman novels from E.E. 'Doc' Smith:  period space opera in one of it's purest sources) because I know the anime is a pile of crap.  I'd be buying this on a purely ironic basis.

Of course, this latest sale at TRS is telling us, basically, "Oi!  You!  Buy this now before we throw it in the dumpster."  because I'm dead certain that is the eventual destination of this merch.  Oh, and I bought the Mixx Graduation CD-Rom (known in some circles as 'the game so piss-poor it set localization of dating sims back a decade" -- and honestly, this game niche wasn't a decade old at the time -- but I've just shelved it.  ...haven't played it, I own it as an artefact of a different age -- and perhaps I'm only appreciating it on an ironic basis.)

And there is the question of getting the game to run on a modern system.  I attempted to go back and play some games of my misspent youth (the Wing Commander series) and while I can install 'em, they run so well (that is to say, fast) that they're unplayable. Dating sims are something like a turn-based-combat system [*chuckle*] so maybe it will fare better.

...and before the sticklers come down on me for my characterization of the Graduation game as a dating sim

-- yeah, I know it's not a dating sim, its a 'training' game
(which should actually disturb you more)
-- yeah, I know it's not hentai.  Not all dating sims are hentai, and my use of the term wasn't meant to imply that.
-- Dude.  This game did set back the importation of anything that wasn't Sega/Nintendo a decade.  Or more.
-- ...and I'm pretty sure the failure of Graduation was the prompt for Mixx to drop the original company name and cast about for a new monicker.   That, and if you want to sell things to the kids (i.e. their parents) anything with more than one x sends the wrong message.
