Overview

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo began as a light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Kēji Mizoguchi there has also been one manga adaption released in April 2011 and is still on going, one anime adaption released in October 2012 and is still on going and a game adaption set for release in January of 2013.

Plot

Sakura Dormitory is a dorm of the high school affiliated with Suimei University of the Arts and houses the most eccentric students. Sorata Kanda, a second-year student, was sent there due to the fact he keeps picking up stray cats and must stay in Sukura Dormitory until he is able to find homes for the cats. His main goal is to get back to the normal dorms that is until he meets Mashiro an eccentric manga artist who just moved into Sukura Dormitory.

The story follows Sorata and the residence of Sukura Dormitory as they each learn from each other and grow.

Characters

Sorata Kanda (神田 空太 Kanda Sorata)

Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Japanese)

Sorata Kanda was transferred to Sakura Dormitory room 101 due to his cats. His only goal at first is to get out of Sakura Dormitory until the new student Mashiro moves in. He is quickly put in charge of taking care of her as she is a little odd and as he gets to know her and the others in Sakura Dormitory his goals slowly change.

Mashiro Shiina (椎名 ましろ Shiina Mashiro)

Voiced by: Ai Kayano (Japanese)

Mashiro Shiina is a fantastic artist who has decided to draw manga. She is forgetful and needs a lot of help doing normal things. She rarley pays attention to what goes on around her so much so she doesn't realize when her talents overshadow and hurt others.

Nanami Aoyama (青山 七海 Aoyama Nanami)

Voiced by: Mariko Nakatsu (Japanese)

Nanami Aoyama is a childhood friend of Sorata's she also has a crush on him and attempted to help him find homes for his cats so he could move back to the regular dorms but after he decided to stay and she seen how things where in Sakura Dormitory she decides to move in to make sure nothing perverted is going on even taking over Mashiro duty saying it wasn't right for a boy to be washing a girls clothes as it is indecent.

Misaki Kamiigusa (上井草 美咲 Kamiigusa Misaki)

Voiced by: Natsumi Takamori (Japanese)

Misaki Kamiigusa s a third-year-student of Suiko she is talented at making anime and has even sold one to a major company. She has feeling for Jin and doesn't hide this. She is extremely outgoing and high energy.

Jin Mitaka (三鷹 仁 Mitaka Jin)

Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai (Japanese)

Jin Mitaka a third-year student of Suiko. He has feelings for Misaki but as he feels he isn't good enough for her he becomes a playboy dating lots of women mostly older or married women.

Ryūnosuke Akasaka (赤坂 龍之介 Akasaka Ryūnosuke)

Voiced by: Yui Horie (Japanese)

Ryunosuka Akasaka is a second-year student of Suiko he rarley leaves his room only attending classes to raise his attendance rate. He normally communicates through the computer and a computer program in which he calls Maid his ultimate goal is to make Maid real. He has difficulty dealing with females and constantly says how he hates them.

Chihiro Sengoku (千石 千尋 Sengoku Chihiro)

Voiced by: Megumi Toyoguchi (Japanese)

Chihiro Sanpoku is the dorm teacher of Sakura Dormitory and an art teacher of Suiko and Mashiiro's cousin. While she is in charge she isn't a very good role model chasing guys and drinking as well as handing out bad advice to the students.

Rita Ainsworth (リタ・エインワーズ Rita Einwāzu)

Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (Japanese)

Rita Ainsworth is Mashiiro's childhood friend from England. They used to paint together and due to jealousy on Rita's part she encouraged Mashiiro to create manga but comes from England to bring her back to paint rather than waste her talent. Later Rita realizes that she was wrong and that Mashiiro truly does belong at Sukura Dormitory and that for Mashiiro there memories of painting together where good ones.

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo began as a light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Kēji Mizoguchi. The series began January 10, 2010 and is still on going, there are currently eight novels with another two planned to end the series.

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo (April 2011 – On going)

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Hōki Kusano, began serialization in April 2011. The first tankōbon volume was released on October 27, 2011 the second followed on May 26, 2012.

Anime

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo (October 2012 – On going)

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo the anime adaption produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Atsuko Ishizuka, began airing in Japan on October 9, 2012 on Tokyo MX. The series consist of 24 episodes and the series is also being simulcasted on Crunchyroll.
