The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Forum

So I'm going to open this up with some non-figure merch: Sankaku Complex reports on tissue boxes with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya illustrations on them, which is cute. They're ¥525 (about $5.26 USD) a box, which isn't so bad. There are 20 different boxes total, and you can actually buy the entire set of 'em for ¥10,500, about $105 USD, which is exactly the price of 20 boxes. I can't imagine wanting to shell out a hundred bucks for tissue boxes (though I can easily imagine myself picking up one or two), but hey, that's not so bad.

And then there's the display set. For ¥21,000 (about $210), you can buy the entire set PLUS an acrylic display case for them. Come on, seriously? Tissue boxes stack so easily! Why would you want to spend a hundred bucks on a display case?

Then there's this figure of ToHeart 2's Nanako in pantsu neko form (right). It's a pretty mediocre figure...the pose looks a little awkward her hair is kind of awful (it looks like it'll snap right off in the back to me), and that'd be fine if it was like, a $30 figure. But at ¥8,477 (about $85 USD)? Total ripoff. If pantsu neko loli girls is what you want, you might as well wait for some nice Strike Witches figures come out.

In the interest of not ending this week on a negative note, I do really like this Kotobukiya figure of eroge Sengoku Rance's Sill Plain. It's a pretty pose showing off her awesome kimono outfit, it's attractive and fanservicey without being too cheesy, her facial expression is adorable, and oh my GOD I love her hair. It makes no sense, but I love it anyway.
