This episode begins from where we first saw Franky crying in the previous episode, and the CP-9 moving in on their location.
Franky and he girls watch as Usopp works on the Going Merry. Franky asks what Usopp plans to do after he fixes his ship. He plans to sail the seas on adventures and then travel home.
Franky tells him that the East Blue is too far. He tells Usopp that he saw the damage on the Going Merry. He offers to dismantle the Going Merry. He says that a ship that can't trasport it's passengers from shore to shore is no longer a ship, and he rips a huge segment off the side.
The opening theme starts.
Usopp fires at Franky, but he's back on his feet and throws Usopp into the water to see the damage with his own eyes.
He comes out of the water and lifts the piece Franky just yanked off. Hes struggles to pull it back to the ship and put it back in place. Back in it's proper place, Usopp continues working on the Merry.
Franky tries to get Usopp to accept just how damaged the Merry is. Its not that Usopp doesn't already know.
Usopp explains to Franky the spirit he saw in Skypiea that repaired the ship, and what the spirit said to him. He's known of the Merry's fate since that day.
Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Chopper, and Robin only appear in this episode through Usopp's memories of Skypiea.
Franky actually believes that he knows what Usopp saw. It was the Klabautermann. It's the spirit of the ship.
The door bell to the warehouse jingles. The girl's move to the door to answer it. Soon after they answer the door, and Franky and Usopp argue. Mozu flies past them, landing on the floor. Kiwi falls from Kalifa's kick.
The CP-9 have arrived.
