The Machines Who Obey Our Orders

The Machines Who Obey Our Orders is an anime episode of Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Scion of Sorcery that was released on 12/12/1998

Orphen attempts to fight off the Killing Doll, but fares badly. At first he can only fight the Doll to a draw, but then the Doll activates several gargoyles in the room, which begin electrocuting Orphen. Orphen only survives thanks to the lucky intrusion of Dortin, Volkan, and their Golem, who smash through a wall and in the process, destroy the Gargoyles. Dortin and Volkan leave shortly afterwards, after the Golem steps on an structurally unstable patch of floor.

Back at the cabin where Orphen is staying, Orphen confronts Stephanie, who has no explanation, save that the Doll and the other golems were apparently released when she was studying the ruins. Stephanie leaves, and Cleao follows. The two talk about Orphen, and Stephanie talks about what it means to be Orphen's partner. When they return, Majic is trussed up. Majic explains that Orphen was headed for the canals for a one-on-one with the Doll. After Majic is untied, he and Cleao run after Orphen. However, the Doll then appears and Stephanie directs the Doll to the old Colosseum.

Stephanie walks through the city, and speaks with one of her neighbors, and comes to a conclusion. Meanwhile, Majic and Cleao arrive at the canal, where they find Dortin and Volkan, preparing to leave town. Stephanie runs up and tells them where Orphen really is, and Majic has an idea.

At the Colosseum, the Doll and Orphen are squaring off, with Orphen being unable to get the upper hand, and the Doll being unable to tire. Majic arrives and attacks with the Golem, but his attack is repulsed. However, he does give Orphen time to recover, and the fight continues. Cleao, with Stephanie's help, distracts the Doll with a dagger, allowing Orphen to disintegrate it.

The next day, Orphen and company prepare to leave, and Stephanie promises to contact Orphen as soon as she finishes deciphering the text. We also learn that Stephanie used to be a guy - in the process of magically repairing his injuries, he also decided to change his gender.
