Kirito defends Leafa
Kirito defends Leafa

Leafa teases Kirito about his illusion powers and his efforts in doing spells. Then, Leafa gets a message from Nagata, and Yui senses something approaching them. Leafa utters a spell that makes them invisible. Kirito spots a small, red bat, and Leafa shoots down the bat since it's an enemy tracer. Leafa urges Kirito to run quickly. They arrive onto a narrow bridge, but the Salamander enemies conjure a stone wall in front of them. When the Salamander knights arrive, Kirito engages them in combat while Suguha stays behind to do support magic. Kirito's attacks get block by the knights in front, and the enemy mages behind them utter spells that blows up Kirito. After Suguha heals Kirito, the same process repeats. Kirito yells out and tries to pry the enemies' shields. Yui urges Suguha to block the enemy mages' spells. Kirito is encased in a barrier, and during the explosion, Kirito utters a spell that transforms him into a red, horned beast. He attacks the knights and kills one of them. He quickly bites one knight down, and after destroying the knights, he sweeps the mages off the ground. When the enemy mages try to retreat, Kirito kills every one of them except one who leap into the lake only to be killed by a monster. Leafa stops Kirito from killing the last enemy. Suguha threatens the man to tell her everything, and Kirito bribes the guy with items in order to get him talking. Leafa and Yui are not surprised by Kirito's tactics.

During the man's explanation, he explains that the higher-ups want to take out Kirito and Suguha from interfering with their plans. Leafa thinks the Salamander army heading north are preparing for the World Tree. As Kirito and the gang walk to the city, Kirito shares how thrilling it was to be a monster. When Leafa asks what the enemy taste like, Kirito grabs Leafa's hand and bites it playfully. In the city, Leafa marvels at the items, and Kirito reminds her about a message she received earlier. Leafa logs out, and she tells Yui to guard her body so that Kirito won't do anything naughty to it. Suguha sees her call history and receives Nagata's call. Nagata explains to Suguha that Sigurd has sold out the leader of the Sylphs. He states that he followed Sigurd in the sewers while being invisible. He overhears them planning to attack the meeting between the Cait Sith and Sakuya as well as using a tracer to follow Suguha and Kirito. Though, Nagata gets found by the Sigurd and the Salamanders and gets shot by them. He manages to log out, but his body remains paralyzed in the water. Leafa tells Kirito that she has to go, but Kirito insists to tag along. On the way, she debriefs Kirito and asks him why is he doing this. Kirito states that he likes Leafa and that he will never attack her for his own benefit. His words touched Leafa. Kirito grabs Leafa and uses his super speed. The three exit the cave past the monsters.
